....and had the worst waking up process all week as well.
Just to mention, that last entry is making me ache, that was a lot to type, more than I expected, so please be grateful, I do it all for you, the readers. I'd also like to apologize for neglecting to mention I almost bought Josh a Hunting Dagger that was on sale, since I know he loves his display weapons, but I knew getting that on the plane home would never work.
We woke up to the News and the 7 a.m. Wake-Up call from the lobby, all of which was terrible. I don't know how they're handling it in Las Vegas, but the Hurrican Katrina ordeal is terrible here, especially since they expected it to come around here, near St. Louis. I took a shower and got dressed, and for some odd reason had the "Mike, Lu, and Og" theme stuck in my head.
After sorting everything out, we got packed up and ready to go, but stopped in the lobby to return the Hotel key and have a free doughnut and some coffee. I'm not much of a hot coffee drinker, and I spilled some on my fortunate dark shirt just trying to get a sip, so I stuck myself on the bottled water.
We headed to Nixa, relying once again on the map, and pit stopped at a Wal-Mart so I could get some Benadryl. It looks like Wal-Mart is this town's central for economic stuff, cause I couldn't find any Supermarkets, and it was one of those SuperCenters, with everything in them.
After finally finding Grandma Bailey's trailer, we were greeted by more people than we'd expected. There was Kelly's Aunt April and her husband Charlie, and Grandpa John and Rhea had already beaten us here, in matching NASCAR shirts no less. Grandma Bailey also happened to be a fan of NASCAR as well, later showing us her #24 Jeff Gordon watch. It was a lot of fun meeting them and catching up, Grandma Bailey was such a nice lady, she really seemed fond of me, and she was so suprised when I offered to help with something or was polite, which is what I always do, so it seemed easy to please her. I guess when you're 82 seeing Great Grandchildren is a wonderful experience. For a while we sat and talked, taking pictures of everyone holding and feeding Sophia, until Aunt Joy came.
If I remember correctly, Aunt Joy is Grandpa John's Sister, who was best friends with Ruth Ann (The Grandma in Staunton. God, remembering all these faces and names is difficult). confused
Anyway, I really liked Aunt Joy, and she looked so nice, you'd think she was my Aunt. She has a lovely personailty and was so funny, and Sophia took a real liking to her, and Joy just wouldn't let go of her, she was just so fond of Sophia, they played around, and she sang to her, and Sophia ate it all up. We took some lovely footage of everyone, and then had KFC for lunch. Man, I packed it away after only having a doughnut and some water for breakfast, and I just really had a good time, I'd love to come back to see her, and of course we invited everyone to come back and visit us in Las Vegas, especially Aunt Joy, she wanted me to go out parasailing near the condos she sells working in real estate. It seems everyone wants me to come and stay with them, I doubt I'd ever see Las Vegas again if I took any of these offers, I'm hoping 90% of them were just kind gestures.
We took our 5 hour trip back home, everyone loaded back in and all that, and I fell asleep again, but this time only for about an hour. Sophie really snoozed on the trip back, and we made great time beating traffic before 5 o'clock. We made it back to Grandma and Grandpa's with everyone out of the house, but there were barbecued ribs and corn and rice waiting in the kitchen, so I gobbled that down too.
Meghan and Grandma came back from getting their hair done, and we just relaxed and talked very vaguely of our trip to see everyone. I don't know all the details, but I think Ruth Ann didn't want us going to see Kelly's dad and Grandma Bailey, so I guess when my parents told her the plans, they just mentioned we'd be going to Branson, so they asked me not to mention antyhing about that. So of course, Meghan was on my a** giving me 20 questions about what I'd done, so I do what I did best, made up s**t about where I'd been.
Kelly's friend Patti and her mother Jewel came to chat for a little while and see Sophia, and that was nice. I read my book, watched some T.V. and now everyone's asleep and it's 1:30 in the morning right now. I'm tired, but I'm glad I got all this done, and it feels good that as much fun as I've been having, I'll be glad to get home soon. Tomorrow is Grandma Ruth Ann's Birthday, so we're going out to eat, and hopefully Saturday I can work on getting you guys your gifts. I hope you'll be pleased, I think it's got a sentimental touch to it.
