My writings of prose, poetry, short story, songs and other likeminded stuff. My other profile, wulfreiks, holds the same information.
Whole Wide World
(This actually happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Not my most brightest moment.)

Someone once asked me what I would do if I won $500,000. I thought about it for a few moments before realizing I was going to need a bit more time to think about it. For three days that question riddled my mind. On the fourth day I woke to the answer and it was exactly what I wanted. So I went up to the one who had asked me the question and I gave him what I had originally thought.

At first, I could have lived for about ten to fifteen years or more off the money I had won. Now, I could have chosen that but I knew I probably wouldn't have been happy doing that. so I scraped that idea. Then I thought about what would make me happy and I smiled at the thought of going over seas for awhile. I would travel the world just to find the one girl for me. To quote a song by Wreckless Eric 'I'd go the whole wide world just to find her'. Now, the problem with this idea is the fact that I only speak good English, bad English and morning gibberish. But I could learn to say "you're as beautiful as the sunrise" or "I love you" in any language and start learning from there. I also had to quickly explain that skin color and ethnic background makes little difference to me. But as a romantic sort, I must be able to carry them with ease. I couldn't get him to stop laughing, so I went waited until he calmed down before I went on.

My first stop would probably be Moscow, Russia. It is a beautiful country which is beautiful, yet dominating and even rough looking people. The language, to me, reflects the country itself. It is rough but has a certain grace in how to speak it. The greatest inspiration for Russia would be the female from the movie Hitman. Not a prostitute like that, because I'm not exactly a sexual deviant, but something similar to her, personality wise. If I did not find the one I was looking for in Moscow, I would visit some of the other major cities and towns while heading west.

Next would be Europe. I say Europe as a whole because I've wanted to visit all of Europe to see the different points of interest and I could do so while sticking to the reason why I was there in the first place. Though, I would dedicate myself to my search while in a few select countries.

Germany. I've met a few women from Germany who were visiting Washington, DC. These women had an intimidating presence about them but otherwise seemed very attractive and fun loving. One of them was kind of....snobbish to me, but the other two were quite friendly. It is because of them that I would visit Germany on my search.

France. Ah, sweet Paris, city of love and romance. Visiting this place would either be wishful thinking or a form of irony if I found her. Being that I've actually met a French person before, I would mostly rely on how they are portrayed in movies and in television. Which is probably very stereotypical of me, but until until experience it myself, it's all I have to work with. From what I've seen, French women are very sophisticated, beautiful and often high maintenance. Sophistication wouldn't be a problem, but I'd probably look more primitive when standing next to her. Beauty is only skin deep, so I'm not too worried about appearance. High maintenance....just isn't for me. Even with approximately $490,000 left still available, it wouldn't last long if I tried to keep up with her. But for love, I'd spend every last penny. hopefully it doesn't come down to that. Again, he laughed at me.

I'd visit the other countries to the west while I was searching and take a plane from Portugal to England and then to Italy. I'd spend a little bit of time in Italy simply because I want to. It has beautiful scenery, colorful cities with matching people and plenty to eat and see. However, even now I get the feeling that my journey wouldn't end before I got to Italy or Italy would definitely not be my last stop.

Then off to Egypt! I've always wanted to visited the pyramids and now would be the perfect time to go. Again, I don't believe Egypt would be my last stop. I would skip over the middle east while things are still not quite friendly in that region, but I would stop in India. I don't know why I would stop there, but it wouldn't hurt to look around. After I had my fill of scenery and searching and food, off to Thailand. From what I've told Thailand from mums who recently visited, I'd be in luck to find the girl I was looking for. At this point, I'd be hoping find her in a place like this. One filled with beautiful scenery and very hospitable and friendly people.

After finished my search in Thailand I'd head further east. I'd visit China and Japan but that would probably be it. I'd be looking for a needle in a haystack. Again, the person I was telling this to started laughing, but this time it was in agreement. My search would finally end in the Caribbean. I hear Caribbean women like short, Caucasian men, but I think that might just be one of those silly rumors. Again, he laughed, but I ignored a short joke and kept going. Like I said, if I didn't find her weeping in a tropical moonlit night (Wreckless Eric's Whole Wide World quote) this is where I would end my search and return home.

I would keep enough of whatever I had left of the money I had won and I'd get back to where ever is I left off to travel the world. The rest would be broken down and given out between friends, family and charities in hopes that someone else could find happiness with it.

After I had finished telling my idea, the person I was speaking to just shook his head. With a slight smirk, he looks at me and says 'You do realize that you are about three days late in answering. And with that, the question didn't require so much thought or was even serious, right? A simple 'I'd buy a restaurant' or 'I'd get a house' would have done.'

.........

Needless to say, I felt like an idiot.
