Amy was not created by Sonic Team; instead, a prototype version of her appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog manga published on September 23, 1992, and there she was literally "the girlfriend of Nikki (Sonic)", as the description translates. Her first appearance in the games was in Sonic CD, introduced and kidnapped by Metal Sonic. Here, she had the nickname "Rosy the Rascal" and was named "Princess Sally" in the Western manuals, in order to tie in with the cartoon. After this appearance, she became known as Amy. Her first playable appearance was in Sonic the Fighters as Rosy the Rascal, and Sonic Adventure as Amy Rose. Both times, she uses her weapon of choice, the Piko Piko Hammer, to defend herself during her quest, as well as swing her hammer furiously from frustration.
Jet the Hawk is a 14-year-old green hawk. Sources describe him as the leader of the Babylon Rogues, who is nicknamed the "Legendary Wind Master" due to his mastery of Extreme Gear. This mastery comes from his forefathers, and Jet is the best in the techniques. His skills make him a possible match to Sonic the Hedgehog, whom he considers a rival. Jet is aware of his duties as leader but must sometimes be helped by his team. Filled with extreme pride, the thing he likes most other than treasure is himself. He despises losing and those who are faster or more confident than him and fights using Bashyo Fans.
Storm the Albatross is a 19-year-old hulking albatross. He is described as the muscle of the Babylon Rogues and Jet the Hawk's "right hand man." The strength of his loyalty to Jet is greater than any other and he hates rivals to the team. When he is angry, he becomes destructive; and the raw power of his physical strength makes up for his lower intelligence and lack of speed. With his quick temper, he may stutter when flustered, and he hates having to wait.
Wave the Swallow is an 18-year-old purple swallow. Official profiles say that like her father was for the previous generation of the Babylon Rogues, she is the current team's mechanic. Gifted in this craft, she is a superb mechanic who's knowledge of Extreme Gear surpasses both Miles "Tails" Prower and Dr. Eggman. Because of this knowledge, she is full of confidence. She hates thick-headed or stupid people and notices everything, but her advice tends to be understandable only to her. Although she looks on Jet the Hawk as an "unreliable younger brother" and can be quite stubborn, she follows his leadership.
Big the Cat is a giant purple cat with yellow eyes who first debuted in Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. Big is laid-back and easygoing, which is reflected in his speech. Strong but gentle and a little slow, he lives a normally peaceful life in the jungle with his best friend "Froggy." He loves fishing, and he is never without his favorite rod and lure. He appeared in various games as one of the main playable characters, or by making cameos. He first appeared in Sonic Adventure, where he was after his best friend, Froggy, who swallowed a Chaos Emerald, and Chaos tail. With the help of Sonic he was able to stop Chaos and save Froggy, later helping Sonic defeating him permanently, by giving him one of the Chaos Emeralds. Next, he appeared in Sonic Heroes as part of Team Rose, in an attempt to save Froggy and Chocola (Cheese's twin brother), who had been kidnapped by Metal Sonic, in an attempt to gain Chaos's data, and helped stop Metal Madness. He appears in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood as a playable character. Blaze the Cat (ブレイズ ・ザ ・キャット, Bureizu za Kyatto?) comes from royalty as a princess from an alternate dimension. Appointed as defender of the Sol Emeralds,[15] her role is similar to Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna combined.[16] She is portrayed as calm and levelheaded, hiding her true feelings.[17] She is sometimes "bogged down" by her own strict disipline and devotion to her position making her appear withdrawn.[17] Blaze can control fire,[15] but wears a cape to conceal it as she was teased about her pyrokinetic abilities when she was young.[16] By utilizing the Sol Emeralds, she can transform into Burning Blaze.[18] She is voiced by Nao Takamori in Japanese media and Bella Hudson in English media.
Blaze debuts in Sonic Rush as a playable character along with Sonic. She arrives in Sonic's dimension from another dimension along with the Sol Emeralds. While searching for the Emeralds, she befriends Sonic, Tails, and Cream the Rabbit, and helps them stop Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega before returning to her dimension. She returns in Sonic the Hedgehog as Silver the Hedgehog's friend during the future of Sonic's dimension. The two fight against Iblis and attempt to fix their ruined world by traveling back in time. Blaze eventually seals Iblis within her body, is consumed by a gold aura and disappears in the air. She acts as a main character in Sonic Rush Adventure, where Sonic and Tails are transported to her dimension and help her retrieve the "Jeweled Scepter". She is an unlockable character in the Sonic and the Secret Rings party mode and Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, and a playable character in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games.
Charmy Bee is a young and childish bee that acts as the "scatterbrained funny-kid" of the Chaotix. He is cheerful, curious, playful, careless, and greatly energetic, often talking about things no one else cares about. Charmy's fooling around makes the rest of the detective agency staff look professional, and he is generally seen as a "cute mascot." Despite an innocent, good-natured and light-hearted personality, he'll use his stinging tail on the rare occasion that he gets angry.
Espio the Chameleon is a purple chameleon, who is an expert ninja. He is described as the "guardian of honor" of the Chaotix. He has a "militaristic discipline" while also being quiet and laidback. Confident in his skills, opinionated and self-obsessed, he revels in training and self discipline. He is not concerned by danger, and often yearns to face it in order to use his ninja skills. With his extensive training in ninjutsu and an ability to turn himself invisible, he is able to move around unnoticed. However, a blunder like a sneeze could cause him to inadvertently become visible.
Vector the Crocodile is a large, strong crocodile. He is the "head honcho", and the brains, of the Chaotix Detective Agency. Divided between being "bossy" and "easy-going," his rough speech and outward appearance mask his clear reasoning and ability to resolve cases. For the right price he'll take on most jobs, unless they involve doing something immoral. Vector has a strong sense of justice and kindness, despite his argumentativeness. He often does unpaid work due to his charitable nature, leaving the agency constantly short on money. Vector hates having to work for the landlord, but he enjoys singing, and his trademark is a set of headphones. He is physically very strong and his powerful jaws are a formidable weapon.
Cream's first appearance was in "Sonic Advanced 2," as the first character saved from Eggman. She was seen again in a cameo in Sonic Adventure DX. She is seen randomly in Station Square and dropping the Key for the "Ice Cap" level. She returns in Sonic Heroes as part of Team Rose along with Amy Rose and Big the Cat. She joins with them to search for Cheese's sibling, Chocola, and helps stop Metal Sonic. She is a playable character within Sonic Battle, where she befriends Emerl and teaches him about emotions. She is a playable character in Sonic Advance 3, and befriends the rebuilt Gemerl. She becomes friends with Blaze the Cat during Sonic Rush, teaching her about friendship. Infuriated at being sealed, Omega decides to team up with the two to obtain revenge on Eggman and prove that he is Eggman's most powerful creation. He returns with the same goal in Shadow the Hedgehog, and teams up with Shadow in certain levels to destroy Eggman's robots. During Sonic the Hedgehog, he is playable after Rouge orders him to support Shadow many years in the future. He is also one of the secret unlockable characters in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood found in Metropolis.Omega has an array of extremely destructive weapons concealed in his arms, including machine guns, flamethrowers, missile launchers, and energy cannons. He is often seen with his air-bike, the Marvelous Queen. The character was known as "Fang the Sniper" in the Japanese game, Sonic & Tails 2, but was named "Nack the Weasel" in the English version, Sonic Triple Trouble. "Nack" was used in the comic books he also appears in. Games released after Sonic Triple Trouble have called him "Fang", regardless of language.
Michiru Kita, Seiyū - Houko Kuwashima Michiru possesses Shinigami Eyes, which allows her to see a ring on a person's neck, indicating their impending death. However, she has hated her gift ever since she saw dark rings around her parents' necks, who died in an accident after the rings turned jet black. She now wears glasses that can subdue her gift, allowing her to live her life normally. Although, since the death of her parents, she has felt a numb complacency with life, living it out, but having no will to achieve anything or even care if she dies or not, an attitude which disgusts Shito. Michiru first meets Chika and Shito in the hallways of her school, accidentally tripping over Chika's hand. After she ends up finding out their secret, they initially think of killing her, but when they find out that she has Shinigami Eyes, they instead inform her that she will be using her powers to help them fight zombies, despite her protests. After various failures and meeting other members of the Z-Loan office, Michiru comes to accept her new job, Largely because of the debt Shito and Chika took on to keep her from dying. She often takes the brunt of Chika's abuse and is initially called '500-yen' by him, due to the fact that he believes she owes him ¥500. He later begins to call her a "gopher" since she often does what other people ask of her without question.
Chika Akatsuki , Seiyū - Kenichi Suzumura Chika is referred to as "Boy B" or simply "B" ("B-san" wink , titles which greatly irritates him, after surviving an accident with Shito, known as "Boy-A", six months prior to the start of the series. His attitude is rather lively, but he is also short-tempered; he is often seen beating Michiru for her various failures. He begins to have feelings for Michiru. Chika and Shito switch right hands, due to the fact that when they were revived, their right hands were attached to the other one. With Shito's right hand, which is actually Chika's original right hand, Chika has the ability to generate a katana possessing Shinigami abilities. With the katana, Chika is able to perform spiritual memorials for zombies they defeat. Though often seen with a short temper, Chika has a genuine care for those he defeats and often performs their memorial with great sympathy. Though they have free will and emotions, both Chika and Shito are still considered zombies, so their ultimate goal is to regain their lives once again.
Shito Tachibana , Seiyū - Takahiro Sakurai Shito is referred to as "Boy A" or simply "A" ("A-san" wink by most students in his school. Due to his looks and attitude, he is seen as an idol by the female students, though he seems to not care. He is generally a much more approachable person than Chika, but certain situations and people cause him to act cold and indifferent; when Michiru first told him that she had no real will to live, he told her how disgusted that made him feel, going on to say that he believes she does not deserve the right to live, but begins to warm up to her and grows feelings for her. Shito is linked with Chika by a spiritual chain. When he attaches Chika's right hand, or rather his own original right hand, he can generate a 9½ inch Ruger Super Redhawk revolver, which has the power to harm zombies with its spiritual bullets using his own ectoplasm. Unlike Chika, Shito's life was not lost in the accident, and he has a different type of contract than Chika. Chika and Shito are always together due to the fact that their hands will rot if they are not within a certain distance of each other. Although Shito claims to not be able to stand Chika, he sometimes treats him as a friend or comrade.
PUCCA Although pucca is not a ninja, she has demonstrated some unique abilities of her own that make up for what she lacks in training, such as immense speed, strength, and a rock-hard head. Her superhuman abilities are not always necessary for her to save the day, however, as she's extremely present-minded and resourceful. Though she is typically sweet-natured, Pucca can be very aggressive and temperamental when she does not get her way.And when someone tries to get between her and Garu, she doesn't let them get in her way, whatever it takes to get her man. Pucca has very long black hair, but usually wears it in an odango style. The only times her hair is out of her usual style is in episodes Ghost Of A Kiss, Ring Ring's Party Favors when she was blasted out of the Goh-rong when Ring Ring uses her opera voice, destroying most of it, and her hair ties snap off and He Loves Me Not where her hair was flowing from an unusual power. Pucca is also a talented musician, as evidenced in And the Band Played Rong, Sooga Size Me, and a few other episodes. Most likely out of a desire to protect him, Pucca often takes over where Garu gives up. Pucca also has an alter-ego named "Noodle Girl" that sometimes appears in the series. It is revealed in the episode "Tomb It May Concern" that Pucca is Uncle Dumpling's, Ho's and Linguini's niece, although this was the only time it was ever touched upon.
GARU Age 13 as of The Cursed Tie. Born December 3rd, Garu is a skilled and somewhat serious-natured ninja, and the object of Pucca's affections. To Pucca's frustration, however, he only rarely returns her affection and usually frantically tries to escape when Pucca attempts to kiss him. Despite the fact that he usually desperately tries to avoid her advances, Garu's true feelings for Pucca are a mystery. Interestingly enough, one can come to two separate conclusions about the truth of Garu's feelings depending on which series one chooses to follow. In the original Flash cartoons, it was suggested that Pucca and Garu were officially a couple, and he occasionally gave her flowers, chocolates, and other gifts, on one occasion even melting down his beloved sword to make a little ring for her. The TV series, on the other hand, has hinted that he does care about her to some extent, but it has never been implied that his feelings for her are more than platonic. In truth, however, it is said that Pucca and Garu are in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. It's just that Pucca is a bit too "friendly," unlike Garu, who doesn't want to show "unnecessary" affection.
UNCLE DUMPLING, HO, AND LINGUINI The chefs of the Goh-Rong Chinese restaurant, and Pucca's guardians. They are Uncle Dumpling, Ho and Linguini . They cook jajangmyeon noodles as a team, with Linguini twisting the noodles, Uncle Dumpling chopping up the vegetables, and Ho heating up the dishes with his bare hands. They hold their noodles in very high regard, and possess a culinary honor system.
ABYO Age: 12. Abyo is very outgoing, competitive, stubborn, energetic, and excitable. He's Garu's best friend, and he's also good friends with Pucca and Ching. A practitioner of Kung-Fu, Abyo uses nunchucks as weapons. Abyo's signature move is a running gag in the series: he jumps up, yells "Hi-Ya!", and rips off his shirt at least once in every episode. If he can't rip his shirt off, he settles for whatever else he happens to be wearing, resulting in him severely embarrassing himself in public. His physical appearance is an homage to martial arts icon Bruce Lee, but unlike the late martial artist, Abyo's personality is very headstrong and impulsive and it is with this kind of attitude that he is often left with the shorter end of the stick.Abyo is the son of Bruce, the police chief of Sooga. He trains under Chang at the Turtle Training hall with Garu, Ching, and Ssoso. He's also a bit of a womanizer, yet usually ignores Ching's crush on him, much to her frustration; this slightly wears off when she proves to be one really good martial artist and saves Abyo's life, though. When Muji tried to lower Abyo into a tub of boiling acid, Ching cut off Muji's moustache, his only weakness and saved Abyo. it is revealed in A Better Boyfriend that he is allergic to mustard which causes his head to grow big,red and swollen. Well there ya have it. "HI-YA"!!!!!
CHING Age 12. Pucca's kind-hearted best friend. Ching is a very sweet, happy ninja girl who is generally well-liked for her sunny, upbeat attitude. She is the daughter of Chang, the owner of the Turtle Training Hall, and she trains under her father with Garu, Abyo, and Ssoso. Ching uses two swords appearing simirlar to Jian in battle. Ching is easily distracted. Ching is in love with Abyo, which he more-or-less reciprocates, although he's usually too obsessed with other girls and with martial arts to notice her, which causes poor Ching no end of frustration. Ching has a pet chicken named Won who sits on her head. The eggs that Won lays apparently have magical properties which is said to be true in "The force of won".
SANTA CLAUS First appeared in A Christmas Story, but later began to appear more frequently, demonstrating to the viewers what he does while he isn't busy with Christmas. This includes many jobs such as being a doctor, a taxi driver and a shopkeeper. He is mainly used for comic relief. He is usually an unwitting victim of Pucca when she is after Garu — for example, when he dressed up like Garu to get chocolates from Pucca, and was beaten with a tree afterwards. In one episode, Santa is shown signing up to become a ninja like Garu.
RING-RING 12 years old, A jealous, beautiful and rich girl who considers herself Pucca's rival. She is an opera singer who performs in traditional Chinese robes. she's considered evil by most fans of the show but she isn't evil and when angered, she transforms into a siren-like persona: the arms of her robes become long propeller-like blades, and her blue hair is apparently prehensile, since she can make it grow, shrink, and move, or grab things at will. Her anger is usually triggered when Pucca is chosen over her. She is also a recurring background character and is at times seen playing with Ching when she's not letting her jealousy get the better of her. Because of her terrible temper it shows she is Ching's friend.
TOBE 15 years old, and the antagonist of the series , Tobe is Garu and Pucca's Arch-enemy and strives to defeat Garu at all costs with his two swords. Tobe is rarely capable of defeating Garu, however, much less Pucca. For some reason, Tobe is always trying to strike vengence on Garu, thoUgh they never mention what Garu's ever done to him. In the television series, he often makes quotes that range from overly melodramatic to just plain ridiculous. It is shown that he and Garu might respect each other as friends after being stuck together, but Tobe quickly reverts back to evil.
CAT CLAN A trio of cats. Their names are Brutus, Socrates, and Napoleon. They all have crushes on Yani, who isn't interested in any of them. They've never perpetrated any serious crimes, mostly minor thefts and vandalism.
DOGA Doga is a witch unlike Jumon/Shaman, but far more capable in magic. She is typically a background character, but was featured most prominently in The Usual Ching, Pucca's Fishy Tale, Hex Door Neighbor, Double A Attack" and Super Sooga Squad" Pucca is considered her mortal enemy because Pucca's positivity toped Dooga's gloom & doom. She has black tear markings on her face that run from her eyes to her chin. She never speaks, except in those episodes where she is featured as the villain. Doga has a small, curved sword or knife strapped to her back that she never uses. But in a Pucca story, Doga used it to fight Abyo but she was no match for him. Doga can shoot magic lasers out of her eyes to grab, transform or zap people. Though she's featured as a villain, Doga is willing to help the village out in the series . Doga is usually described as female when her gender is mentioned at all, but in Dream On, in Pucca's dream, she was wearing a tuxedo and in Surf Ninjas, she appears to be topless. Doga being a female in evidenced in Super Sooga Squad when she falls in love with Master Soo's evil brother. In Double A Attack, she turns good. TEXAS LUGIE AND SLOPPY SUE A rich Texan couple begin buying everything in Sooga Village, eventually creating their own fast-food restaurant that runs the Goh-Rong restaurant out of business and makes everyone in Sooga village fat. They are defeated at the end of the episode. Tex and Sue own a mobile home, which can turn into a giant robot, also, whenever they hear music, they have to dance to it. They appeared again in another episode, selling SUV's to the village, the SUV's needed gas, so oil was dug up, creating pollution and global warming. They were defeated and say "We'll Be Back!"
DADA Age: 17 He's a luckless dishwasher and waiter at the Goh-Rong restaurant. He is nervous and highstrung, which frequently leads to accidents around the kitchen. He also seems to have a weak bladder and frequently wets himself. However, this has been edited out of the United States version. Even though he is slow and klutzy, he does have some ninja skills as shown in Janitaurus. In Soap Opera, it is revealed that Dada is in love with Ring-Ring, and the show occasionally goes back to this. There are also some very subtle hints that he might have a crush on Pucca, but the evidence for this claim is insubstantial. He is, however, one of the very few people who can intercept one of Pucca's kisses without recrimination from her. He is one of the few characters to use a fork, only to be laughed at as Sooga Village uses chop sticks. The chefs treat him with very little respect which annoys him. In recent episodes, Dada has begun to show a rather villainous side of himself. In Chef Napped, he helped Ring Ring kidnap all the great chefs of the world, and tried to crush the village with a giant robot. In He Loves Me Not, he disguised himself as Garu to help Ring Ring break Pucca's heart. It is interesting to note that he has been teaming up with Ring Ring more and more frequently, and this, combined with Dada's aforementioned crush on her, could indicate a deeper relationship between the two.
MASTER SOO Master Soo is an old deity who reigns over the village. He lives in an enormous palace in the clouds where he is pampered by beautiful handmaidens. He acts as a being of all knowledge, and often referees competitions, as shown in Ping Pong Pucca, Sooga Showdown, and Gold Medal Garu. When he does come down to earth, he rides on a small cloud, usually with some of his maidens in tow.
SSOSO Age: 11 A young Buddhist monk. He often speaks in proverbs and wise sayings, usually in a sluggish, monotonous "surfer dude"-type voice. He practiced martial arts many years in a Shaolin temple, but left to seek better martial art skills. Ssoso is almost always calm and collected, and though he is a skilled fighter, he is a bit of a pacifist.
POLICEMAN BRUCE Abyo's father, Bruce, is the police chief of Sooga Village, but he is a crooked cop. He finishes his sentences with the word "over" as if speaking into a walkie-talkie. He takes the law very seriously, and sometimes his habits while on duty overlap into his everyday life. His best friend is Chang, Ching's father. Just as Abyo is an homage to Bruce Lee, Bruce's name could be referencing the Martial Arts master as well.
CHANGE Chang is Ching's father. He is the master of Turtle Training Hall, where he usually teaches Abyo, Ching, Garu and Ssoso martial arts. Chang loves to make fruit juices for Ching and friends. His best friend is Policeman Bruce.
DIGITAL PEOPLE Common civilians. They are paper-like humanoid creatures. Their genders are determined by their color- blue for males and pink for females. They are usually seen everywhere in Sooga Village, usually doing construction-related work or popping up spontaneously to generate long lines for comedic effect, usually acompained by a signature theme song. They also can be useful to help others. They have special abilities, such as control over fire or water; they can also combine to form one giant Digital Person if their emotions run high enough. They almost never stop smiling, even if they are on the windshield of a car. They only frown if something really bad goes wrong. They are digital stick figures, this is why they are called Digital People
TURTLE Chang's anthropomorphic pet turtle, not to be confused with the old man of the same name. He is usually seen in the background. He wears a hat similar to Ho's. He was featured prominentily in Jaunitaurus where he trained Dada in ninjistu.
MIO Garu's beloved black cat. He is often seen with his master, usually on his head or helping in his training/meditation. He is in love with Yani and is a rival to the Cat Clan. He hates going to the vet because he is afraid of getting shots. In "Chef Slump", he and Ho can communicate
YANI Pucca's beloved pink cat. Yani is the most popular cat in Sooga village and often flirts with other cats such as the mischievous cat clan and can be seen winking at them but she only is really in love with Garu's cat Mio and in some episodes such as "Cat Scratch Fever" at the end of the episode they are seen kissing and cuddling. In Hooray for Bollywood, they make a heart with their tails. And also in the theme song they are seen rubbing each others head.
DESTINY Destiny is a golden dragon who lives in a cave, behind the waterfall in Sooga Lake. Destiny is a lounge singer and piano player. He first appeared in Unsinkable Pucca as the piano player on the S.S. Funny Love, however, he was most prominently featured in Dragon Player. He and Pucca attempted to plan a romantic date with her and Garu, Garu, upon discovering the plot, proceeds to walk off, but when Destiny says because he left Pucca crying he has no honor, he fights him. In the end, Pucca helped him to score his "first gig in five hundred years" performing at the Goh-Rong. He reappeared in Chef Napped!, where he flew the gang to Las Vegas for the World of Noodles Convention, and helped to rescue the chefs when they were kidnapped. He also appeared in Enter the Dragon Girls as the Dragon Girls' troop leader. He showed also in Full Moon Pucca, when Garu was lip-singing, Destiny was behind a fence, doing the real singing. And in Garu Hood, he ate the last noodle bowl so Garu Hood had to get it back. Destiny ended up eating Garu, Abyo, & Dada until Pucca beat him. Like typical dragons, Destiny can fly and breathe fire, but in addition, he can make himself grow larger by roaring or singing.

He received a prank birthday present from his brother in the episode The Choo-Choo Troubles, which was an urn full of toy snakes. He is a tattle-tale and when falling victim to his brother's pranks he goes away declaring "I'm telling to our honorable mother".
MASTER HIEL KIKYU A master martial artist who Garu is the #1 fan of. He appears in Autograph This! and Invincible Vengeance. Despite Hiel's supposed superhuman martial arts, he was constantly topped by Pucca. He is also a legendary Fire Wasp Ninja. His name is a pun on the phrase "he'll kick you". He is shown to have a love of money. He is acon artist when it comes to salesmanship: He says "No receipt... no refund."
