The Adventures of Reality I
"And so the evil began..."

1

"...with a final look, Ashley walked away from OCA once and for all. She put away her past desires: Rafael, Trisha, attention, and focused on the things she had to protect: her friends, her mother, the OS. But most of all, Ashley finally knew what it took to believe. To believe in herself, her mother, her friends, herself.

"And it was enough to last her... forever."

Kylee put down her pencil, and shook her hand rapidly. Stupid writer's cramps, she cursed to herself. Why did it have to hurt to enjoy writing?

Sighing, the girl put her pencil on the side of her notebook, and finally gave an ear to the teacher. Something about a partner project. She looked over at Alayna, and the two shared a glance. Partner found. Mission Impossible accomplished. Kylee smirked to herself, leaning back and closing her notebook at the same time.

But then Mrs. Lewis, the English teacher, pulled the magic hats out.

Oh God. A chorus of groans echoed.

The magic hats were a pair of top hats with paper inside of them. And obviously enough, the papers contained the students' names; one hat for girls, one for boys. And here's the magic part of it: the first names were always called in alphabetical order, even though they were always randomized.

Must be magic.

Alayna and Kylee shared another look. The blue-eyed girl rolled her eyes. Great, just what we needed.

Kylee shrugged. I guess. Hope we get someone decent. Alayna nodded, and looked back at teacher. Another note about the magical hats-

"Florida Allritro and Evan Fox."

-they were guaranteed boy/girl pairings.

Kylee lowered her eyelids slightly. Even better! Just what I needed. She placed her fair face onto her palm, and waited for her name. She looked down, and stroked the green notebook below her finger. In regular black ink, the title read, "The Adventures of Teenage Weirdoes III."

She chuckled at the name. Where she had gotten it, she had forgotten after two years of writing, but, three 100 page notebooks later, she had finished in this very class. She hoped one day, she could look back at it, and laugh her head off.

The names in the story, except for a few people and demons, were all real. The personalities, the tweaks, and certain things were, how you say, modified. But that was beside the point.

Halloween was that upcoming Friday. And Kylee knew what she was gonna be: a musician. She had recently bought a flannel shirt, baggy jeans, and had headphones. She'd borrow her band friend's music, wear her glasses, and ta-dah! Musician.

As Kylee ran her fingers over her notebook, her name was called.

"Kylee Katsumata and," Mrs. Lewis pulled a paper after hers, "Romair Igig!"

Oh God, Kylee repeated in her head. Alayna shot her a pity-filled look, one Kylee ignored. She shyly glanced over her right shoulder to the boy in the next column, two rows down.

A boy sat there, his brown eyes blank from indifference. His also glasses-clad eyes looked at her, and for a moment, their eyes met. A shiver ran down her spine, as she looked down again. Kylee touched the notebook. Ironically enough, he was in here, since she had liked him since what? Seventh grade?

They were Juniors now. Obsessed much?

Kylee didn't want to think about it. Reaching towards her backpack, Kylee grabbed her other two notebooks, particularly grabbing the first edition.

Zap.

"Eep!" Kylee retracted her fingertips, and looked back at the notebook. The spiral bound stack of paper had just... zapped her! And it had made her jump a little out of her seat out of shock! (Haha. Shock. Zap. Get it? Get it?)

She looked around, embarrassed, but it seemed no one noticed, since she was always doing something... odd (just because she had brought a wire hand to raise her hand with...). Glaring at the notebooks in her bag, she reached again, with a bit more force.

It shocked her again, but Kylee snatched it out. The zapping settled as she placed the two with the newly completely third volume. She looked down at her stack, proud of herself. She had fiinished.

Finished. After two years of work, she had finished.

But as she touched it again, it gave her more than a shock. It burned her! Even more than shocked, (GET IT?!) and a bit more ticked off, Kylee pulled her big sleeves over her hands and she took the stack. She quickly shoved it into her bag again, where she immmediately pulled her hands back.

Weird. I'll have to look at that during study hall.
