With a punch into the air as a sign of victory, I exited the casino with a skip in my step, not to mention a lighter pack. Adjusting my sunhat, I glanced down at Retro. "Over a thousand tickets, can you believe that?" Sticking my hand into the messenger bag's pouch, I ran my fingers over the slightly textured tickets. "I wonder what we could get with these babies..."
It had been a long time since I had visited Becky for exchanging tickets. Needless to say it was a bit embarrassing to be shown the pathetic rubber duckies I could get in exchange for my hard earned tickets. "I mean, sure they're cute..." I said to Becky as I looked over the selection. "And they'd make a nice chew toy for Retro, but..." I pointed more towards the back at the set of robotic upgrades. "You'll see me again when I can afford one of those, promise." I felt a bit more determined and pleased with my decision over her robotic companion, but my decision was sound.
Heading from the Casino to the beach, my mind started to waver. How had I let the darkness of thought take over my positive outlook on robot and gaian relationships? I wanted more than anything to be equal with them...was I impatient or was I realizing it was inevitable? I wanted to be Gera's friend until the very end, but could Gera save me from a path of rebellion and destruction?
I didn't want the Mechanical Children to become the revolution, or did I? What I wanted most was a unified friendship between all robots, cyborgs and androids. I didn't want to make an army, I wanted companionship. Maybe if they all attempted freedom diplomatically it wouldn't have to end in violence...
Plopping down on my spread out black and white checkered blanket, I laid back and let the sun's warmth start to melt away my troubled thoughts. Or at least try to.
