Home Wreckers Ch.4:
The little mirror flipped open and a black color appeared on both halves of the glass. The poor little thing shook and flopped about, scaring Fawn to death. What was she going to do with a second monster chasing her up and down the street?
“Get it out of here!” her mother yelled at the top of her lungs. She refused to have her house trashed again so soon.
“Where!” fawn answered equally distressed. Her hands were shaking as she bent down to pick it up.
“Outside, Hun! In the backyard quick!” her mom left the room, silently inferring that her daughter should follow, but she didn’t get it.
Fawn lifted the window and popped out the screen tossing it to the ground. She threw the compact out as hard as she could possibly throw it, not caring if it broke or what. Then she ducked back in the house and shut the window with a small slam.
The ground shook now, fiercely. This monstrosity must have been a douse.
I was too afraid to look at it and with this powder crap still on my head it was bound to find me anyways. All I had to do was sit in the corner and close my eyes. Waiting was the easy part; dealing with it face to face was going to be terrifying. The ground shook again, it sounded like an earthquake out there and then I heard mom chanting again, it had to be after her!
I leapt from my comfort zone and to the backdoor in the kitchen. Swinging it open so hard it all most broke, I found that no one was out there… just that one guy from before… wait! He was in my backyard! I took a small step to the grass from the medium sized, roofless porch dad had made two summers ago. Side stepping across the yard, I was next to him and he was staring at something around the house.
I could see the compact lying open and unharmed in the grass by our shed, which was falling down and now was finally dead because of whatever had come through the glass knocked it to rubble. I walked over and picked up the compact.
I had to look at it real hard because I swore I saw something the movie Labyrinth walking up beside me with mom in its’ hands.
