the perfect dream
the perfect first date... there is this guy i like... i've liked him for a while and i've always had a feeling he liked me too... but i stopped seeing him. now i only see him every week or so for grocries i need.

i had this dream of the most perfect first date anyone could have...

i asked him to have coffee with me after work and he pulled me into a kiss and said that he was waiting for me to ask... anyways... i'll write it as a story for all ya!!!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perfect Days! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it was early-afternoon when she had to go to the store. her mom wanted spinach and bread for a dip she was making... some how she felt like this day was going to be different than all the other days...
she walked by the produce guy and that was it... she had to say something. she had walked by him everyday for three months. she had always said hi and talked to him. ever since she left, she hasnt said a thing to him. it was obvious she liked him. she always asked her friends about him.
so this was it. she had to go to him, had to say something, just like old times.
"hey! been a long time, huh?" could you be more obvious?
"hey! yeah it has been. so, whats up?"
"um... will you get coffee with me? you know, after work..." oh god, oh god, oh god....
"i would love to-"
"great! here's my number... just call me when you get off" walk away, just walk away her phone started vibrating just as she turned the corner to the other isle... unknown number? huh, intersting
"hey... come back here you lol i still have something to ask you" just then she turned back and walked to him. without saying a word he swept her up into a kiss. "i've been waiting for so long. waiting for you to say something. today, twelve" the smile on his face was to die for. the only thing she could do was nod and stumble away to the other isle. completely forgetting the bread.
~~~~~~~~~~~Twelve at the local cafe~~~~~~~~~~~~

there he was, sitting infront of the window facing the door. he was early. something tells me he conned someone into letting him out early... but why? the song playing ahead was a sweet melody. bery relaxing. "well, i guess you say. what can make me feel this way. my girl." just then he looked up at her and smiled... the same smile he showed to her earlier.

"hey. go ahead and order." his smile was never ending and she couldn't help but smile back. so wide her cheeks hurt. to avoid having to explain her wincing smile she walked to the counter, back to him, to order a tall mocha with a shot of vanilla. as she waited at the counter she looked back at him. he was looking at the farmers market across the street when he saw me in the reflecting of the window. his smile was less intense this time... more... comforting... almost as if he-

"-iss... MISS! your mocha is done." snapped back into reality!

"th-thank you! sorry..." i wonder how long she was trying to get my attention in the corner of her eye she saw him giggling... no not giggling... laughing. so she turned to him... she was going to be angry looking but she couldn't help but laugh with him. so she sat down with him. no longer holding her non-exsistant grudge.

"day dreaming?" his voice was so sweet. rough, but smooth...

"maybe a little... whatchya got?" she leaned towards him as if trying to see into his drink. his hand covered it as his other reached out to her cup.

"you first. i want to know what kind of girl im dating haha." surprised she released her death hold on her cup and let him take a sip. she waited a second to see his reaction. he winced, looked at the cup with a look that practically said 'what is this concotion?' she laughed... who wouldn't, the guy was practically green.

in all curiosity she reached for his cup. "don't give me that look. i bet you drink it black." she took a sip and nearly gagged. one thing it wasn't was black! she took the cap off to look at the coffee itself and to her surprise she saw hot chocolate. she looked up at him just in time to see him bust up laughing.

"don't like coffee... no matter how much sugar you put in it." she was, indeed, bewildered.

"could've said something... i was prepping myself for the strongest coffee i ever tasted and next thing i know im tasting the sweetest thing. kind of... intersting." as the laughs died down he reached his hand out for hers.

"im sorry... i bet on the others dates you've had the guys always let you know." and there it was... he doesn't know... a sly smile slipped to her lips as she spoke softly.

"actually, this is my first date." many emotions flicked through his face at once.. but the most prominate one looked close to regret.

"i didn't know... well... this is no place for a first date." she could see the wheels turning in his head as he was obviously thinking of something to say. "hey? are you free tonight? i want to give you a proper first date." she was surprised, no doubt. from the moment she first asked him out she thought he was just gonna take her to coffee and then say 'see ya around.' but nothing has gone like she thought it would. the kiss, the coffee/hot chocolate... everything.

"i am. what should a wear? casual or dress of some kind?" please do not say dress... please... plea-

"dress... but not some formal thing... just a simple sundress is okay." woah... he used the term 'sundress' thats knew

"o-okay... you'll pick me up?"

"of course... it's your first date." and with that it was time for him to go... it was all good timing actually... just like all those books she read.
off to home i go then

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Date ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
at eight her door bell rang... and all the things that happened today flooded together as she picked up the last of her outfit... shoes for one.
check list time... parents know? check... shoes? duh, check. dress?... okay... that one does not even diserve notification. guess i'm all set... oh... my... gosh... and there he was... he was wearing a tux! it was as if she was going to prom... she felt so underdressed with her black sundress.
"wow, you look... beautiful," he said as he offered his arm. he was so soft... so ... tall. and there it was... the truck she always watched for when she worked nights... always hoping that he would need something and have to come in to get it. to pass by her... to say hi to her.
"thank you," okay... he is so bumping up on the boy scale... looks... 8. curticy... 10. he hasn't missed a step yet. as he led her to his truck he was telling her about the date... where it would be, when he planned to have her home... all the things she should probably tell her dad but will forget to. so far it sounded nice. dinner at a nice resturant, desert at the local basken robbins. nice stroll through the park.. it all seemed so... perfect.
on the ride to the resturant she noticed him slowing down by an orchard. "what's wrong?" she asked.
he looked so peacfull.. how could anything be wrong? "this is our stop." he said as he smiled at her confusion.
"excuse me?" somethings wrong... we're stopping in an orchard... about a mile away from any publicity... even then its just an old road no one really uses... i should've said something about where we're going! my cell! yes, i can call someon-... no signal. oh my god!
it was almost as if he read her mind... "calm down... it's okay. this is where dinner is." he got out of the car and she was halfway tempted to lock the doors... but how would she get away, he has the key's! he opened her door and led her out toward the center of the orchard. she was too shocked by his calmness to even think.
as they walked she saw a dim glow coming from two, no four tree's. as they got closer she noticed a string of lights connecting to all four trees around a table with two candles... and instantly she felt bad for every doubt she ever had in him.
she stopped and looked up at him. "this, this is the... the dinner you were talking about?"
"yup. i work here on the weekends after work at the grocrey store. they wouldn't mind if i brought a friend here. here have a seat." he held out a chair for her as she sat. everything was so bright. it was like the tree's had stars hanging from the limbs. it was... beautiful. he served the dinner and through out the whole dinner they didn't speak. she was too stunned to say anything... he smiled the whole time and he watched her closely for signs or running or possibly freakage to the highest level.
when dinner was finished he got up and held out his hand. when she grabbed it he pulled her up gently and held her close to himself. he started humming.
"i get it," she said slowly. "every dinner has to have a dance." she smiled up at him and started to giggle... he laughed and stopped dancing. she looked up at him and said, "thank you." he looked down to her and smiled some more.
"ready for phase two? or... it it three? haha does lunch count?" she laughed when he did.
"nah, that was just a hang out. this... this is a date. and yes. im ready for phase two.. we are still going to basken robbins, right?" he looked back down to her and laughed softly.
"actaully, i was gonna take you to the resturant i was talking about earlier. they serve some great soft ice cream." she was stunned.. he was so full of surprises. how did she ever find a guy like this?
"i'd love to go," she couldn't help but smile like she had earlier at the cafe. he watched her skillfully and decided to smile too.
later when they arrived at the resturant he led her through the back door to the back of the kitchen. again, she was skeptical. she was a good girl you would say. she never drove till she got her permet. she did break one law though... she drove another person while she was still in the first year of driving.
"hey gabe! this is the girl i was talking about on the phone." she silently looked at the young man standing infront of her. she judged that he graduated about a year or two before her date.
"well, hi there. nice to meet you. im Gabe." they shook hands and for the first time in a long time... she felt safe. safe with her date... safe with a guy she just met. she just knew that he was okay. that he wouldn't her. because he was her dates friend.
"anyways, we're here for the ice cream i ordered. is it ready?"
"yup, it's fresh too. just beeped about a minute ago. it's gonna taste like sunrays on a cold day." now she had to interrupt.. had to prove that she wasn't shy.
"how very poetic." Gabe looked at her like he was seeing a deaf person listening to music. "what? i talk. just... not to knew people." all three of them laughed.
Gabe led them to the ice cream maker and started to get two bowls when her date stopped him. "can we just have one bowl please?" he then looked at her. "is that okay?"
amused, she tried to look angry. "of couse. its a first date. have to have only one bowl." he smiled to her and kissed her and she broke... she couldn't hold her facade anymore and started to laugh. they watched together as the miracle of life, ice cream, was being poured into a small bowl.
he led her outside to a patch of grass, away from the crowed in the front. he held out a spoon for her. as she reached for it he pulled it a little closer to himself. she looked up at him... confused of course and reached for the spoon again as he pulled it closer to himself... agian. she looked back up at him just in time to see him bend down and kiss her again. this time the kiss lasts a little while. she slowly grabs the spoon and as soon as he lets go she backs up.
"haha... my spoon." she smiled and scooped up some ice cream that was starting to melt. Gabe was right... its soooooo gooooooooodddd. she practically fell over when she tasted the ice cream.
"i know right? Gabe makes the best ice cream. he makes plain ice cream taste like heaven on earth." yet again they sat silent eating ice cream and looking at the moon. not a full moon, but not a sliver. the sky was perfect... not a cloud in sight and the stars were starting to show. everything was so perfect...
"this must be a dream," she said softly then looked shocked. "did i say that outloud?"
he laughed softly as he took her spoon. "you did," he whispered. "this means im doing good, right?"
"yes," she smiled up at him as he got up and walked back to the back door.
she started to get up when he gestured for her to stop and sit so she did. a few minutes went by and she started to wonder where he went. she looked back at the door and saw him leaning against the wall. he looked so calm, so peaceful. she got up and walked towards him and leaned against his chest as he started to hum again. she recognized the tune this time, Fer Elise. it was soft.. almost inaudible.. she wouldn't have heard it if she wasn't leaning against him.
they leaned there for seconds, minutes, hours, days. it was only when her phone started to vibrate that she realized she fell asleep against him.
"hello? oh, hey dad. yeah. yeah. i think we're coming home now. oh. sorry. i'll do them when i get home. yeah. i'll tell you about it when i get home. okay. alright. by dad." she looked up at him, almost pained.
"have to go home?"
"yeah. do you mind taking me home?" he looked at her with an odd expression.
"of course. i wouldn't just leave you here to defend for yourself. hey... i have to tell you something..."
she was hopeful... she wanted to hear 'be my girlfriend' or 'see me tomorrow.' anything that ment that they would be together again. "what's up?"
"i... i, uh..." he sighed. what ever it is, he's having a really hard time telling me... "uh.." he sighed again. "i had a great night tonight." dissapointed she leaned her head back down on his chest and noticed his heart beating. then she realized what he wanted to say. the same thing she wanted to say. she wasn't ready to say it yet though. she let a little laugh slip by and listened to his heart speed up even faster.
"you're gonna have a heart attack if you don't calm down. hey? can we ... you know... have another date... not this excentric, even though it was really nice. but i would like... to, to hang out more. i want to be with you. again." and there it was... the only answer she needed to hear.. his heart slowly started to rest. she laughed a little again and he followed her.
"yes. i would love to."
"thank you," she said for about the fifth time tonight. "thank you so much."
