It was a nice afternoon Saturday. I headed down to my car and pulled out my service manual. I browsed through and then skipped over to a engine code reader and read that manual. After dangling upside down for a bit inspecting the underside, I poked the code read at the only viable port under the steering column. Yes, it was painfully obvious, but I felt the need to check out all possible choices! After trying to fit the code checked into the port, I realized that although this was for GM cars, my car as a tab that extents an 1/8 inch to far to far outward for this checker to work. My used car is new then my other car and this code checker will not work. Oh, sadness! Well, after that lead ended, I moved on to my other method of dealing with my car. Since the car is in too good shape for a hammer, I pulled out the service manual and started to get to know my car. Hi car!! The spark plugs connect to the...manifold! Heehee. I was out to identify a sensor on the driver side that could be causing my rpm to jump low every once and a while. That just keeps bugging me. So, I flip to my engine diagram. After over a half hour of not being able to find any part on my engine I was really starting to worry. Wow! Did I order the wrong service manual? That would be bad because that was not cheap! I was really feeling un-mechanically inclined! All of a sudden, instead of giving up, I looked in the book and realized, something of great importance. I looked at my engine, and back at the book thinking if I had to translate the book somehow. That would really suck! I had no intention of becoming a true mechanic, I just wanted to know my car. As these thoughts speed by the page titles sunk in and I flip ahead a bit, and there was a difference...2.2L to 2.4L. Oh what a sweet difference! There was my little twin cam sitting in the 2.4L section! The happiness was supreme. All the diagrams had corresponding parts to my car. I said hi to all the little parts I could see that I was interested in yesterday. Hi MAT sensor! I finally found your troublesome butt....goal.
