There are a lot of things that I want
A lot of things I can't survive without
yet deprive myself
looking in the window wishing to finally get it
dreaming of holding it in my arms
wishing to cuddle and be finally happy
but slowly as the days turns to weeks and weeks to years
I learn I'll never have that certain gift I want every year
slowly walking by to gaze at the object
I see it's no longer there
letting my gaze slide to the ground knowing the truth
letting my heart crumble as
I realize it's gone forever
in the future never to be received by me
