Yesterday, I delivered 53 regular newspapers. I finished just around 6am, which is when the grocery store opens, so I stopped to buy 3 gallons of milk. I use about a cup of milk a day on my cereal, while my sister and mum drink a gallon or more a day. But I buy it all. When I got home, after giving the dog his anti-seizure pill, I hauled a dozen or so boxes of Christmas decorations down from the attic. By then, the Extra papers (a weekly advertiser) had come, so I folded 175 of those. This took me two hours, because I had to take the bulky adverts out of each one. My back just can't handle carrying all that extra, useless junk -- the advert was for a store that's an hour's drive away. Screw that. Then I had a bowl of cereal and went to deliver the larger of the two routes, 132 papers. That took another 2 1/2 hours. Stopped by the pharmacy on the way home to pick up meds for my mum and sister. Had another bowl of cereal and collapsed in bed, where I watched TV for a couple hours before falling unconscious, around 5pm.
Today, I've already delivered 53 regular papers in the sub-freezing weather, and I'm getting ready to deliver the smaller route of Extras, 43 papers. I like to wait until it's daylight, so I can see, but after 8:30am, so all the kids are already in school. It's hard enough lugging these dumb things around on the narrow pathways shoveled through the white stuff without dodging kids. Then when I get home, if my sister is awake, I get to vac the living room and dining room, because my mum's cousin (the only friend or relative who ever visits) will be arriving around noon, and the house is a disaster area. If there's time, I get to put up the Christmas decorations in the living room and possibly haul a ton of my sister's books up to the freezing attic. Then maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll get some more sleep.
I'm exhausted and in constant pain. This is why I never have time to log on for RP or even chatting, and also why I've fallen so behind on making new comics.
