Not only is it April's birthstone it can also be a girls best friend. Today's subject is diamonds.
The ancient Hindus called diamonds "vajra" meaning lightening. The Greeks called it "adamas" meaning invincible. In the middle ages diamonds were though to heal illnesses if you warmed them up in the bed with you first. Even though the shaping of a diamond is important now a days it used to be considered a taboo thing to do. The gift of a diamond is symbolic of everlasting love. Stealing diamonds is said to bring bad luck. Greeks said that diamonds were the tears of gods. Romans thought them to be splinters of fallen stars.
