(For the pro-lifers that respect the fact that they have no say in a woman having a choice, then this does not apply to you.)
I respect your views, now, respect mine. I'm not saying, to you, that if you don't want a child, to abort it. That is your choice. If I don't want some parasite living in me, that is my choice.
That is the thing about pro-choice, it is not the same as pro-abortion. Pro-choice gives the woman the choice what to do with her body. I may not always agree with the circumstanses of the abortion, but I accept that the mother has a right, and that she can have the abortion over her body. I have no power over the woman to not have a choice.
Another thing, when you say "You had sex, you knew the consequenses, now live with the consiquenses", you are saying "If you don't want kids, don't have sex." You can deny it all you like, but that is what you are saying. You have to realize that this is the 21'st century! Telling a human being to not have sex is like telling a lion not to eat raw meat. It just does not work that way. Mind you, I'm still a virgin, but when I think of sex, I think of plesure. I do not think of kids. Sex =/= Kids. Mind you, if I actually felt like having sex with a man (yes, kiddies, I'm a lesbian), I would use protection. Meaning I would not want to have kids, or to be pregnant. If my protection failed, and I got pregnant, I'm still going to get an abortion, because adoption is not a cure all for the nine months of pain of pregnancy. I rather regret not having kids, then regret having them.
Also, for the super-christian trying to shove their beliefs down my throat: A) I'm not exactally christian. I'm not an athiest, as I do believe that there is some higher force out there, but I lost my faith with cristianity a long time ago when I read the bible.
If I were to be raped, should I have to suffer nine months of pain as a reminder of the horrible incident? I think not! Sure, the zygote did not asked to be put down if I were to abort it, but I most certainly did not asked to have the zygote formed because of rape! If I don't want to suffer nine months of pregnancy, I should have the choice to abort!
"Well, you were asking to be raped, you slut!"
And it's people like you that make the world crumble.
If I'm not fit to have the child, and I would die during child birth, should I give up my right to live just for the child? I should have a choice to abort or not. It's my body, and I have the right to live, as well.
Now, like I said before, I'm not saying you should abort because you don't want the child. It's your choice to go through pregnancy to give it up for adoption. You should respect me for my choice.
If we make abortion illegal, you know what will happen? We will go back to the old ways. That's right: the good ol' coat hanger. Back alley abortions. Because those are so much better than a doctor giving the abortion </sarcasm>
You can say that the father should have a choice, but it is not his body. Women are not the play things of men. They are not the incubators of the next generation. They are humans. With a choice.
Because, if you can't trust me with a choice, what makes you think you can trust me with a baby?
