Chapter Three: Time To Tell Dad
"Sophia my dear child come here!"

My dream was changing again becoming happier with time. Damien was there beside my father who held his arms out welcoming me home. I was happy to be going home in a few days time to visit my father. I awoke calmly smiling and stretching sniffing the air as I did so. Damien was cooking for himself eggs and bacon from the smell of it. I made a face at the scent every time but I would never insult it. I hated hearing or seeing Damien upset the scowls were never good looking on him. As I came from the bed room dressed in my usual night attire, a tank top and shorts with my hair pulled back in a messy bun, I wrapped my arms around his waist making him jump lightly and growl.

"Relax Damien, it’s just me," I giggled before letting go of him as I stole an apple from the glass bowl on the counter and bit into it.

Eggs and bacon didn’t appease to me apples did. Going into the living room I sat quietly on the couch turning the T.V. on. I sat there watching a drama movie about a girl finding her true love and all that junk. For vampires and shifters it was different, shifters do what they call imprint they fall in love at first sight no matter what race they are. Vampires fall in love by sharing blood, if two vampires drink each other’s blood you’re doomed to love them. In my thoughts when Damien and I first met he fell for me and when I first drank from him I instantly became his forever, which was fine with me. Our first night together was also the first time I had bitten him. As my thoughts continued racing I didn’t realize Damien had sat beside me. My bags where packed to go back home and, I couldn’t believe I’d get to see my father in what seemed like a millennia.

I lightly placed my feet in Damien’s lap as I lounged he sat in his usual stiff state. Normally I would be sitting just as stiff. After all it wasn’t every day the vampire princess comes home and tells the king she’s in love with her body guard. The last time I loved someone he was human which would’ve angered my father more than the news I was bringing, at least I could only hope. It didn’t surprise me when Damien shifted uncomfortably at the thought. Since the night we made love our connection had grown somehow we were able to read each other’s minds now. I didn’t find it odd but he did when, after all shifters never really were able to do that kind of thing. I quickly changed my thoughts and directed it to "other" things, his posture quickly relaxing when I thought of us cuddling in my bed. I blushed when he thought of other times. I couldn’t believe that I had ever thought of anyone but him this way.

I had seen Damien thinking on several occasions of asking for my hand from my father. Each time he thought of my father’s anger and disbelief. He was so nervous at just the thought I could feel him shaking. Grabbing a blanket as I leaned against him I covered us both up just as the man lifted the women and kissed her in the pouring rain. I felt his shaking quickly reside as he began stroking my hair. The movie soon ended after that but I don’t really remember, I had been paying more attention to Damien’s roaming hands. He enjoyed my stone cold skin and sharp curves his favorite, I guessed, were my sides. I always found him rubbing them whenever he could. However, he also enjoyed the more human parts of my body like my warmth after a fresh meal and my breasts.

I was still young and yet I was fully matured after 17 years a half born, vampire human child, stopped growing I was actually over a thousand years old, and Damien was well over two thousand years old. I didn’t mind seeing as how he stopped aging when he turned twenty, and despite that I loved him so age didn’t matter. It never did in the shifter and vampire world. As I was thinking about things my hand wandered to the black ring around my neck. Adam hadn’t been around in a few days what surprised me more than that was Damien had yet to ask about Adam and the ring. I guessed he knew talking about that night brought pain to my neck and my heart. He held me tighter as he felt my mood change making me blush as I swallowed the lump in my throat.

Over the next few days we lounged at home, by Sunday morning I was up at dawn. Damien was still asleep so I made an effort to cook for him so he was ready to go when by ten this morning. I quickly stepped back when I saw what appeared to be Adam standing in my living room.

"What are you here for this time?" I whispered at him as he starred at a picture of me and my best friend from back in my world.

He turned swiftly on his heels and smiled at me, his pale blue eyes staring deep into mine as a smirk came to his lips. "Silly girl Adam is my bother. I can’t even believe he let you fall in love because he pity’s you." He chuckled as I watched him hiding the fear from my expression. I could smell the sweet angelic scent on him Adam had to be his twin, but he hid his scent. My eyes widened as he grabbed my chin. I hadn’t even seen him move, his speed was incredible."Tell me little princess is it true that a kiss from me could kill you?" He asked keeping his face inches from mine as my breath caught in my throat, the ring burning even more than before.

What frightened me more was that Damien wasn’t coming to my side to help me. That was when I realized Damien was unconscious and probably would be for a long time. I bared my fangs and hissed my anger flaring swiftly. I was beyond furious now as slammed my palm into his stomach the sweet sound of his gasp filling my ears as he fell to the ground.

"Yeah the stories of an angels kiss killing my kind are true but I’d like to see you try and kiss me. How about you tell me something now, is it true the venom of a vampire can kill your kind?" I hissed out grabbing his hair tightly. At that moment his feet slammed into my chest and sent me flying into the wall. I gasped for air and coughed up blood as my body slid to the floor. A dent the size of my time frame remained in the dry wall. I don’t remember much of what happened after that because I blacked out the darkness happily welcoming me.

Slowly waking my eyes came to focus only to see worry filled amber eyes. I came to realize Damien must have awoken and saw me lying on the floor unconscious. He was holding me in his arms as if he was going to lose me. I wrinkled my nose at the copper scent of my blood staining the carpet. Sitting up slowly I felt Damien loosen his grip on me. The only things really injured were my arms, back, and my legs were badly bruised. Letting Damien help me stand he took liberty in helping me to my room making sure I could stand on my own before leaving me to dress. When I was dressed and ready to go we headed towards the door picking up our bags. Damien took my hand gently and smiled sweetly at me making me blush.
When we reached the airport we headed for terminal 8B.

We were headed for Scotland where we would board an underground train to our world. When we were seated on the plane I drifted to sleep my excitement and pain gone as I rested my head on Damien’s shoulder. When I woke Damien was carrying me on his back toward the train we were to board. My eyes quickly adjusting to the light I recognized the girl that led Damien toward the trains. Her name was Skylie Redlove her long snow white hair with black tips was unmistakable. I smiled widely as my heart grew. Skylie was my best friend and half sister. She had beautiful and bright copper eyes that looked as if they shined even in the darkness of the tunnel. Skylie was a half vampire half angel.

I had always wondered how it was possible and when I confronted my father he had explained the only angels that were dangerous were male angels. She and I shared the same pain as one another. Skylie’s mother was a mystery to everyone but my dad who would never spill. We were the same in our structure despite her incredible height. She stood nine inches taller than me. Smiling softly I listened quietly to Damien and Skylie talk as they headed for the trains. They were talking about me stirring my curiosity. Raising my head from his shoulder I felt his steps slow.

“Did you sleep well princess Volder?" I heard Damien ask. Great, he was back to his old, closed and locked self. I sighed lightly and nodded not wanting to speak as Skylie turned around smiling happily at me.

"Sophia I missed you!" she shrieked running at me as Damien set me down.
I was knocked to the floor and embraced with tan arms. Skylie giggled and squeezed me till I couldn’t breathe "Sophia, Sophia!" I could’ve sworn she was trying to make me deaf.

“hey Skylie did you miss me or something?" I giggled smiling lightly as Damien chuckled lightly at us.

"Heck yeah you’ve been gone for almost a year!" She giggled getting up and helping me up.

I hadn’t realized it had been that long it felt shorter to me than that. I watched Damien’s face twist in disbelief; he obviously hadn’t realized how long it had been either. Skylie tugged at Damien’s cheek as she smiled.

“And you Mr. Damien! About time you showed her how you felt!” She giggled sweetly while Damien’s face turned red.

He seemed thankful when the underground train stopped and opened the doors. When everyone had boarded the train sped off to the underworld sending my stomach into a fit of nerves. I smiled as my heart began beating faster I would see my younger brother Aiden and my father. While I was gone Aiden had taken my place. He was a fine young man half shifter and half vampire his hair was brown and cropped. He was much taller than me and Skylie as he stood at 5 foot 9. His young face came to my mind as I wondered how he’d take the news of me and Damien. My thoughts and Damien smirked; Aiden and he were like brothers. When my father had refused to let Aiden learn how to fight, Damien had taught him how to.

When the train stopped I bolted out the door for home. Skylie was close behind me followed by Damien though I wasn’t wearing my royal cloak; I was in my royal attire. Several people took pictures and bowed to me as I ran past them. When I turn a corner a cart pulled into my path and almost as if on cue it went up in flames. I had accidentally set fire to it allowing me to run through it. I could hear Damien swearing and Skylie laughing as the both followed my path. As I neared the gates I could see Aiden goofy grin and all upon his face.

"Aiden come on!" I yelled grabbing his hand as I dragged him towards our father’s throne room. The throne room was vast and wide with silk golden curtains draped from the ceiling and seats of velvet. Multiple guards stood on either side of the throne room bowing as Skylie, Aiden, and I entered the hall. Looking to the high jewel incrusted chair as a young man of about thirty sat his black hair pulled back tightly while his pale skin had great contrast to his bright copper eyes.

"Sophia! My child! Come here!" He called as he stood off his throne. His grin was wide and happy as he motioned for me. Approaching him calmly I hugged him tightly welcoming the familiar scents of home to my nose. “How have you been my child?” He questioned taking my face in his hands. That’s when my heart sank. I was going to hurt my father more than I ever had before and I knew that by the expression on his face.

Taking his hands gently with my own I clenched my jaw. “Father I’m in love with Damien…” I whispered. I could smell the anger grow on his being as well as sense it. At that moment Damien had walked in causing me to spin on my heels my heart sinking. I knew what was coming next and I didn’t have to read minds to know it either.
