This was a entry I wrote up for a drow that I did not win. He actually went to a much better entrant then myself ^_^ But I liked this small short story a lot and decided to record it here. Maybe someday he can be reborn in another form elsewhere.
Name: Ssinjinssinss (Sweet Seduction)
"Do you know...what I hate?" Ssinjinssinss spoke slowly as he drew his robe back up onto his slender black shoulders. He paused to brush at a wrinkle with a dispassionate expression on his face.
"Loneliness." He answered after his brief pause. Ssinjin tilted his head so the long white hair that currently was unbound could sweep across his front and half conceal his face. His lips revealed a sweet looking yet strangely sad smile that did not quite reach his reddish purple eyes. "Ah. I bet you had not expected such a answer did you? Perhaps you were expecting something a bit more common. Such as pain, or poverty. Perhaps my place in society as a male? Or even the Priestesses themselves?" Ssinjin turned his attention to his robe once more. He carefully tied the colored sash around his waist with slow and deliberate movements.
"You'd be correct in thinking that I dislike such things. But no...it is the Loneliness I hate most. That singular feeling that you are utterly alone. To be surrounded by a complete city and not feel a connection to even one of them. To lack that one voice you listen for, hoping it shall chime or whisper when you least expect it. Or a scent of musk or perfume that you unconsciously turn your head to catch a whiff of while you walk the street." Ssinjin finished donning his robe and turned to the figure in the bed. From where he stood he could see the sleek feminine form. The gentle curves of her arms and hips. Her long white hair spread out over her pillow in a untangled river of spider silk. Ssinjin lowered himself to the edge of the bed and took a seat beside her.
"Yet there is more to Loneliness that I hate then merely that. I hate how weak it makes me." He explained to the females back. Ssinjin reached his hands out and he slipped his fingers around her body. Gently he slid her across the bed and into his lap. The simple white nightgown she wore cast a serene and innocent aura about her body. Ssinjin held the soft yet cold body against his chest, then closed his eyes and bowed his head. That soft smile was again upon his lips, and his voice had fallen to a mere whisper.
"Weak. It makes me realize how much I need others. I fear Loneliness. It feels like a absolution. A certainty that clings to me more then a shadow of death." Ssinjin lifted his hand and began to sweep his palm over the females head. His fingers parted her hair and he bowed his head further to place a lingering kiss atop her head. "Sleep...sleep and never waken. Keep my secret. I am sure you are not lonely where you are now beloved. I wish we could have gotten further you know. I suppose though it's for the best. The flesh can not long for what it's never had." Ssinjin opened his eyes then, and he looked down upon the unresponsive face of the female. "Maybe I'll forget you if 'Im fortunate." He whispered softly before tucking the female back into the bed. Ssinjin hovered over her, his fingers smoothing the sheets and her hair. When he finished she looked as if she really was only sleeping.
He gathered his things and left the room. A soft click sounded of the lock falling into place. As Ssinjin turned to walk down the Inn's hall, a soft voice called to him.
"Ssinjinssinss." The familiar voice spoke. Ssinjin turned to see the dark and slender shadow of his mentor. Ssinjin bowed his head respectfully and swept some of his hair back behind his ear.
"It is done." Ssinjin answered the unasked question, and he received a silent nod from the other male.
"Good. The employer will be pleased. I will ensure she knows who to credit for the kill." His mentor spoke with a all too pleased note in his voice. Ssinjin kept his head down and his eyes fixed upon the floor. As his silence continued, his mentor spoke again. "So then I am curious. How did you carry out the task? Poison on your lips?"
Ssinjin turned and began to walk down the hall, his Mentor took up walking beside him as he waited for his answer. Ssinjin carefully drew one of his paper fan's from his sash and spread the colored paper open. With a slow twist of his wrist, he fanned at his own face. "No Sir." He replied softly. Each step felt heavier that he took away from that dark room.
"How then?" His mentor prompted him. Ssinjin, aware that his report would be relevant for the sake of his training replied.
"Poisoned fumes. I used a Cologne that emitted a poisonous scent. It lulled her into a relaxed sleep and led to her heart relaxing to the point it ceased to beat." Ssinjin continued to gently fan himself with his fan, and as the pair of drow exited from the hall and into the main room, he moved the fan to cover his lower face completely.
"Clever. I assume you protected yourself first of course." His mentor sounded as he approved. Ssinjin could not dredge up enough emotion to care. His thoughts were back in that room, reliving those last few hours...remembering the soft warm body pressed against his chest. Remembering the melodious sound of laughter and the murmur of beautiful words against his ear. Ssinjin walked and left it behind, feeling a dull dead hollow inside of him forming with each step.
"Of course Sir. I'm you best student am I not?" He murmured behind his fan. Beside him he heard his mentor speak...but the words meant nothing. For once...for once... Ssinjin wished he had chosen a different life.
