Work log
I plan on writing about my art and what it is that i might be creating at the current point in time. Also writing on events significant to my art or others.
This first section of my story
I stood up, as what had happened finally set in to my brain. The hub cap teetering by my feet and the and a trail of gasoline
leading from the wreck. I walked the perimeter of the car, twisted parts scattered across the ground. In my mind all i could think
was if she was alright. I knew it in the back of my mind that she wasn't as tears pooled in my eyes. I walked over and placed my
hand on the bent lightpost. Our car nearly wrapping around it with torn metal jutting forward. The broken light post was
the last thing on my mind though, as tears splashed onto the hood of the car. My week had ended and i wish it had never started.

My name is vincent grauss, college student and part time care giver(day care vollenteer.) Brown hair, blue eyes, and
five and a half feet tall, i was the most uninteresting person in seattle being that i wasn't a budding artist like most of the
college students here.

A week ago i moved in and finally got settled into my new apartment.I live downtown in one of the cheapest apartments i could find.
My neighbors being loud and the landlord yelling at me made me feel right at home. I woke up to a pre-set rock station and got dressed for work.
I watched kids from four til' eight every day at the YMCAbefore they go to school. It fills my time so i don't feel like i'm doing nothing for
the hours before class.

I looked up at the calendar as i left, and saw pre-inked hearts around the date being the 14th of febuary. I didn't care
much for the holiday being single but the thought of it was kind of nice to think about. I locked my door behind me and climbed
down the long stair well to the ground floor. As i walked by the front office i heard something about rent and phone calls but i
couldnt't make out most of it over the mans accent combined with my lack of sleep. I'd excpect he would be chinese but you never ask for fear of being wrong.

It had rained heavily the night before and my car was covered in a thick layer of ice on all windows. I pried the door open and turned
on the car to get the heater started. As i shut the door and stood up to wipe off the wind shield i noticed a large scrape along the door
probably from a key. I ignored it seeing as things like that happen often around here, thats why my car was cheap enough that i could shrug it off.
Once the drivers side had been cleared i got in and drove off. It was early enough that traffic was non existent and i had time to swing by the
convenience store for coffee and some gum.

The rest of my morning was spent sitting at a small red table having kindergardeners using me as a jungle gym. I was in charge of the younger
groups so the coffee came in handy so i could keep up with them. Multiple moms stopped by dropping off more kids. I'd suspect they had an odd
shift and nobody to take care of the kid being a single mom, but my level of curiousity was null at 5 am so i kept to myself. The best benefit
that i could find from doing this volenteer work was i got a scholarship for it so dealing with a few kids every morning seems worth while.

I left the center as drained as when i got there and had to sit in the drivers seat for quite a while before i could catch my
breath. This was the point in the day where i never planned anything to do hoping that by some off chance i would do something spontaneous.
My classes didn't start until 3 so I pondered what to do with my spare time. My best bet was barnes and noble at the corner by starbuck two blocks over.
I always enjoyed books but mostly the horror novels because they seems predictable. Being only two blocks away i got out of my car and walked
up the street to starbucks where i ordered another coffee and traveled into the book store. Third row back and two shelves in on the second floor
I was leaning up against the shelf reading what the store clerk recommended to me when i asked about horror. A strange novel by Koontz about an entertainer
and his dead wife.

I got about fourty pages in and getting to the first turning point when i was interupted by the shelf next to me. I could hear muffled sniffles
from the books and tried to ignore it. After another twenty pages the sniffles became tear drowned muffled sobs. At that point it was hard to ignore
so i looked over my shoulder between the rows of books and saw someone propped against the book shelf next to mine one shelf over. instinctually i
wondered what was making her cry but at this point it didn't much matter. I walked down my aisle and looked around the shelf to see a young brunette
with her head on her knees propped by a red book with tear stained pages. I walked to the counter to pay for the book she had cried on and asked if
they had any kleenex. With a tissue in my hand i walked down the aisle to the girl and bent down to offer it to her. She took it with shakey hand as
she looked up at me with surprise without saying a word. I propped myself up against the opposite shelf about six feet away and kept reading. I glance up
to see her still giving me the most puzzled look, face still red from the tears.

"hm?," I said as raised my eyebrow.

"Well what'd you go an' do that for?," she said shakily brushing the hair out of her face.

"simple," i said matter-of-factly, "you were crying so i gave you something to dry your face."

"Then what'r you still doing here," she whispered as she saw people walking by the aisle.

"Not sure really myself but i'm here if you need anything else," i said with a smile as i went back to my book.

"I never asked for your help," She snapped quietly as she rolled her eyes.

"Doesn't mean you didn't like the help right?," I said as she blushed and looks away.

After much conversation after that i learned a lot about miss Tiffany, miss Tiffany Barenger. She had been here for two years now living with
a few friends of hers as roomates. Apparently she had gotten a text from her best friend saying her boyfriend had been seen kissing another girl
earlier that day and i suppose the pain finally set in. It wasn't much of my business to know most of the things she talked about but maybe she
needed someone to confide in. Once her face had cleared and the hair was out of her eyes i couldn't help but realize she was cute under all those tears
, but that's not supposed to be something you notice when your comforting someone.

Seeing as this had not turned out to be her best valentines day I gave her my number in case she needed to continue the conversation later and
left back for my car.
