So yesterday I got Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel for the PS3. Let me just tell you, otakuness aside, this game is really good. I haven't gotten too far into the meat of the storyline, but with 5/6 of my teammates met and plenty of pretty-much naked goodness so far experienced with Saki and Finnel, I have to say this is a good title in the series.
Now, for the theme of my first coverage: Tatsumi, you have to be a boy!
Yes, I know all of Tats's spoilers. In fact, the artbook that I got for preordering the game would have spoiled it for me already. That's kind of boo on NISA's part, but I already spoiled myself before. Anyway, back to the program. I'm not going to write a review, though I might at some point when I finish the game (and I'll like, explain the whole thing and stuff too), but I wanted to highlight this man.
Tatsumi; A V-Boarder (A.K.A. hover boards) who wants to win a rare, but supposedly high-powered Board for his master, Gengai. All Tatsumi seems to know in this world is the sport of V-Boarding and if it wasn't for the sport, he and the hero Aoto would not be friends. In fact, one of his main game quotes which pretty much sums up his entire personality is: "I'm not interested in people in general. I'm not looking for friends, either."
There is one scene in particular from the game that strikes me as hilarious and spurred some quick fanfiction that I wrote today. In the game, Finnel (my favorite of the two heroines) decides to go into Tatsumi's tent and strike up a confession (or at least a conversation). She decides to start with V-Boarding since it's his favorite past time, but she makes a crucial mistake that costs her the whole conversation...Finnel admits that she is a V-Boarder too; a terribly huge lie. And as such, Tatsumi spends the whole conversation calling her out. The first thing when she said she liked the sport was if she could show him some tricks using his Board. Finnel's response was that she felt best only using her own board, which she left at home. Then he asks what model she uses. Her responses include Honta, Toyoda, Holvo, and a couple more company knockoff names, which he blatantly calls out as vehicles and not V-Boards. The scene then ends with her saying she wants to start a conversation and Tatsumi tells her to go to sleep.
So far, that is the most memorable scene from the game and also the cause of my latest fanfiction which I will post here eventually. There were huge Finnel/Tatsumi hints in that conversation and, if it wasn't for the fact that I know better, would totally pair them together. So, for the sake of my fandom, Tatsumi is allowed to be paired with Finnel. At least, for now. When that is posted up, enjoy. But for now, I hope you enjoyed my semi-rant.
