I think I'm getting the cold again, my nose has been sniffily all day, since I woke up. I wanted to write last night when I got home, but Kelly didn't get off the computer until like 1 in the morning, and I was so tired when she did, I was out all day.
I woke up early yesterday, which wasn't really all that early, but it was for a Saturday. The Minion Meetup was today at noon in the Meadows Mall, so I had to get ready and try to make it on time. I woke up and my dad was asleep on the couch in the living room, while Sophia was terrorizing the place. She spotted me, but I had to go downstairs anyway, so she hung out with me while I went on the computer. I was a little panicked, because I was supposed to be leaving soon so I could for sure make it on time, but my dad had left to take a nap, so I was watcing Sophia until he woke up. It was getting later and later, when he finally came down to her when she got all fussy. He took her for a drive and said he was going to get McDonald's for breakfast, so while they were gone I jumped into the shower and got dressed just in case I might make it somehow. When they got back I gobbled down breakfast, and asked my dad if I could go. He said it was alright, as long as I did the usual notion of checking in before he left for work to make sure Kelly was going to make it back from school in time. I told him I would and ran out the door.
The bus driver gave me heat again when I asked for a discounted 1-day pass, so I had to pull out my ID again just to show him. It's getting more and more common that I have to do that, and it's a mixed bag in terms of my reaction towards. It was annoying this morning, since I was racing the clock, and I had a little under an hour to get halfway across town. I played DS to pass the time and try to not think about it simultaneously. When I got off the 204 to transfer to the 103, it was across the street and about to make it to the bus stop. I ran off the bus like there was a bomb on it, cutting through traffic and I almost got hit by a car. I made it just in time though, and thanked that guy in the silver Acura for his good brakes.
This driver was a lot nicer than the last, I got the time from him and found out I had 11 minutes (!!) to get the to mall before I'd be late, but something helped me get there, and what's even better is that the 103 drops you off right at one of the entrances to the Meadows, because part of its route goes through the parking lot. I dipped and dived through crowds of people who were walking too slowly, and ended up getting stuck behind this fat chick on the escalator. (COME ON!!11!)
I did it though, with like 1 minute to spare I spotted Erin in the food court, and she pointed me in the direction of the group tables. Veronica and Bryan were there, so I found a spot near them. I won't bore you with the details of the meet, all we did was schedule new meeting areas, and discuss old problems, how to solve it, and new rules involving the Volunteers and Staff of AVCon '06. Jason showed up halfway through, but he didn't look too good and stuff had been bothering him, but that's our business, so I'm keeping it to myself.
The mall was a lot of fun, I'm sort of particular to the Meadows, because their Border's is so awesome. Everyone sort of migrated there first, manga freaks that we are. I started to read the first volume of NANA, but people started leaving and I didn't want to by myself. Then, naturally, everyone swarmed to Hot Topic. They had some cool P!ATD shirts, but none of them were in my size, I'd have to special order online or something to get one. From then on, it was just whatever place interested us. Who am I kidding? We all went to the places we normally go. EB Games, KB Toys, Suncoast, and Spencer's.
It got a little exhausting of course, so we sat down and chilled in this little area on the bottom floor that had all these nice comfy chairs. Jason and Veronica found us again, they had left after the meet for something or other. Me and Jason started talking, Warren let me download this demo of Brian Age from his DS to mine.
God, that game is so cool, I have to buy the full version. The first couple of exercises involve the prefrontal cortex of your brain, and I remembered doing these kind of exercises in Psychology. The trick to it is that it will show you the word of a color. However, most of the time the word will be a different color than the actual word color. For instance, the word, "Yellow" will pop up on the screen, only it will be in blue font. Your reaction is to say the color, not the world, and it's harder than it sounds, most people think it's easy. But when your brain is accustomed to reacting a certain way, it's pretty frustrating, you sort of want to automatically answer, even though you know it's wrong. For some reason though, the game wouldn't pick up when I would say the word, "Blue". So I'm sitting in the middle of the mall, yelling, "Blue! Blue! Blue, dammit!!", and people are staring. So I look at them all exasperated, and go, "The stupid thing's not listening to me!!" So yeah, that helped my situation.
One of these kids Josh was having a birthday party at Ichiza, and he kind of invited us, so we sort of all left the mall after that. Me and Bryan agreed that we weren't sitting with that group though, because we know them from experience that they don't have any money, but they'll eat something, and then when the bill comes, you're like $20 bucks short. So we gave Warren some gas money, and Bryan and I drove to Ichiza with Rosie and Warren. It was nice, and since all those other kids were taking the bus, we had plenty of time to look around the rest of Chinatown. We got some Boba, and looked through some music CD's. I almost bought the Orange Range album, but it was in bad condition, I was really tempted to just ignore it though. But I could get them off of Play Asia for much better quality anyway, and they'd probably be cheaper.
We met outside Ichiza, and the rest of the kids finally made it. Veronica showed up, but without Jason, so we invited her to our "special little group". When those other kids heard we weren't going in with them, they got pissed off, but we only felt bad for like -2 seconds. We knew what was going to happen.
The restaurant hadn't changed much since I'd been there at a J-Team meetup almost a year ago, which wasn't bad at all. While we were deciding, Bryan showed us this thing about this Ichiza membership. You fill out this form, and you can get discounts on your next meals. It sounded pretty cool, so Warren and I filled out the forms, and got the little membership cards. We ordered our meals, and just started shooting the breeze. I ordered this huge bowl of ramen, that came with nearly everything, a huge peice of pork, and a half egg. It wasn't even the biggest one, but I still gulped when they brought it to the table. I'd never had an authentic Japanese ramen bowl, so it was real different experience, but I managed to finish the whole thing, broth and all, but I was so full I turned down the Mochi for dessert. The whole experiecne eating it was pretty funny, because here I was trying to eat it properly without being rude, but in Japan slurping the noodles and putting the bowl up to your face is good manners, showing that you enjoyed the meal.
What would you know, but the other group ended up being like $15 short. We all said we didn't have money, and left without a word to them. We stopped at the Ranch Market, because I'd never been there before, and I bought a 4-pack of Strawberry Pocky and Melon Ramune. We all kind of sat and shared the snacks, then we all sort of went our seperate ways. I took the bus to Dark Tower to check out those UFS cards that had come out, and bought the Taki starter deck. Pretty cool, I think I'll at least watch the tournament tomorrow.
Came home, talked with Kelly for a while, her school is gonna be over in about 2 more weeks, so she's really looking forward to no more missed Saturdays. I went upstairs, called Sonja, and found out Jen was spending the night. We all watched some Adult Swim, but we got sleepy, and tried to plan stuff out, but it didn't work, and I'm sorry I didn't call you guys, I woke up at noon today.
