Peach
Happy Girl's Day to all the beautiful young ladies out there.


In China peach blossoms are highly prized. The believe peach trees have the most vitality because their blossoms appear before the leaves sprout. When early rulers visited their territories in ancient times they were preceded by sorcerers armed with peach rods. These were used to protect them from evil spirits. On New's Year Eve, magistrates would but peach branches over their doors to protect against evil influences. Peach wood was craved into multiple things that was meant to protect against evil such as amulets, seals, and figures.

In Japan the hero Momotaro was said to be born from an enormous peach found floating down a stream.

In Korea peaches are seen as the fruit of happiness, riches, honors and longevity. A rare peach with a double seed is a sign of a mild winter. Peaches and peach trees are said to chase away spirits.
