Well, first off, I'm not 12, 14 even 21... I was asked to come check this place out by a friend of mine who thinks it's pretty cool, so here I am.
My primary income is derived from online chatsite moderation... for those of you who can't figure out what that is, I sit around on the sites I work for and keep it safe. I make sure the rules are followed and kids don't give out their personal details to strangers. That is my biggest pet peeve and I will probably rant in this journal a lot about it.
I don't care how smart kids think they are, how clever they think they are, or how sure they are that something bad won't happen to them... the truth of the matter is 1.) Certain things attract Peadophiles to target a particular user and 2.) That really hawt 13 year old guy you think you're flirting with could really be a 52 year old pervert from Wisconsin. How do you know, really?? The truth is, without giving him your IM email address to view him on webcam, you really DON'T know, and by then it could be too late.
Walking around with a username like "young-n-sxcy" (just a random example-- not criticizing anyone in particular) and your ASL splashed all over your profile when your all of 12 is not only, IMO, morally wrong but it's a pretty good way to attract a pervert or two.... if my kid did that, as a parent, I would probably smack her silly. I guess that's what happens when your Mom moderates chatsites for a living... you actually have to act like a respectable person with half a brain when using the Internet, or you don't get to use it.
Anyways, I am sure my little journal has the potential to piss a few ppl off... such is life. I have an opinion and I am not afraid to speak it. Don't like it, don't read it.... as for what brought this whole subject up as my first journal entry... my friend who asked me here commented to me "yull never be able to enjoy a game like this because of the mod in you, you know that right?" after I mentioned finding 3 unsafe items in the memberlist that made me cringe, shake my head and wonder what is wrong with todays youth.
He may have a point, but I CAN turn it off much of the time, until something really ignorant stands out, then I go back into mod mode wanting to explain to someone how at risk they are making themselves. Rest assured, I have no official authority on this site and am not a moderator of this site, nor do I claim to be, so no one has to listen to me. However, sometimes the best advice isn't asked for, but instead just happens to find it's way randomly to you in the form of someone's blog.
