The last two days have been rough to say the least. Yesterday I woke to a very sore throat. It kind of surprized me at how much it actually hurt, but life wasn't about to wait on me. So I got up to go to school like always. A couple days before, I was informed (since I'm VP of my class ^^) about the school's tasting party was coming Friday. (tomorrow) Our theme was given to us by our teacher and our theme was to be New Years. (The general theme of the whole tasting party was holidays. 3nodding )
To those who have no idea what this tasting party is, let me explain. ^^ A tasting party is this big festivity my school holds every year. The whole tasting party is based on one theme (like holidays for instance), and each class then, from that main theme, will have a sub-theme to do for their booth. (Like mine has New Years) All the classes then get a booth set up at school and then bring foods and decorations for the booth to along with the theme given, and you get to enjoy all sorts of different things. Near the end of the party, the judges (who had seen the booths before the actual party began) will announce a first, second, and third place winners on the best booths of the party.
I love the tasting party. It's one of those things you look forward to the challenge of finding decorations and ideas once given the theme. I like coming up with ideas and then finding a way to execute that. But this year has been a little different...
Upon hereing the theme, I about yelled in joy. This would be a perfect opportunity for me to do an Asian theme, or so I thought. (I'm an Asian wannabe lol) I came up with a plan to do a Chinese New Year and I had picked a way to get all our decorations simple and easy. I was soo excited to bring it up. When I had given my idea to the class, all I got was stares. I didn't see anyone's face light up at the idea or anything. I really felt let down. The President of the class (one of my close friends) then suggested doing an American themed New Years. ... With that thought, my whole class began to chatter excitedly about how to execute that idea.
Now, don't get me wrong. I don't mind following that idea. Afterall, everyone else wants to do it, and as reluctant I was to the idea, I will go about and work on it with all I can. But, as it shows, no one else was willing to come up with real ideas for the booth. It still bugs me till this very second. How can a whole class be for one idea, then give absolutely no effort to get this idea accomplished? I mean, they volunteered to bring in food, but that was it. After the President collected the names of the dishes that would be served and who was bringing them, she immediately handed it to me to keep up with. Like it was automatically my responsibility.
I understand that I do have a responsibility as VP to my class. But not when it wasn't my idea to begin with. I know it sounds stupid, but to me it makes alot of sense. So for the time, I held on to the paper carefully. When time came to come up with idea about the decorations for the booth, I ended up having to do it, and I wasn't very happy with the idea of me having to do it all.
Then today. Ohhh today was bad. Today I woke up with a fever and all the lovely stuff that comes with being really sick with sinuses. The runny nose, coughing, sneezing, sore throat, headaches, temperature, and the sometimes dreaded light-headedness. Yes. All of that, and yet, the first thing I had to think about was, I have to buy ALL the decorations for the 'American' New Years, that I didn't even want to truely do. And with that thought, I knew I had to go to school, and after school, I would search for decorations.
Oh, and I suffered dearly. Haha. Yes, I did. I had a temperature of probably a 100 the whole day, coughing and sneezing my head off, and then the end of school came. When it came, I spent the next 2 hours going to 4 stores looking for New Years decorations that aren't really out in the fall. -_- I had never felt more aggrevated or fed up with any tasting party theme or group of people or idea in my life.
I was litterally crouching in a hallway of Walmart just about to sobb when I finally got this bad headache from being sick and stressed. I just couldn't find the decorations I had been looking for all that time and I was just soooo tired and felt sooo bad. All I had wanted was to just go home and rest. Maybe even take some medicine and sleep my sickness away. But no. I had to get those decorations because no one would get them. No one.
I finally some how managed to scrounge up some decorations for the booth, but they aren't what I wished. But what can I do? I looked everywhere, and that's all I could find. I found out a couple hours ago, that everyone that was going to help set up the booth wasn't going to be there either. Which leaves the booth setting up to me and the president. It's really only about a one girl team too, since I'm really sick and I don't know how much I can put forth into running a booth for 2 or 3 hours straight. (with only the president and myself working).
But it will just have to be done I guess. All I can say about it is that it's...
