Chapter 2
For two years, Alexandria lived comfortably and happily with the Icarii. She learned how to fight with both a weapon and in hand-to-hand combat. StarSoar stayed be her side, training her with all the skills he knew. She learned to use her bow quicker then any before her, usually using StarSoar as a target. Pride and love filled StarSoars heart as he watched the young girl grow. One night, while Alexandria was hunting in the forests below her home, a dark creature snuck up behind her and attacked. A scream tore through her body as she felt fangs in her neck and claws in her sides. Struggling to get away from whatever had ahold of her, Alex thrusted an arrow into the eye of her attacker. A growl of pain was all she heard as the beast released her and fled. StarSoar, having heard Alexandria's scream from atop the mountain, landed softly beside her. He knelt down at her side, concern and fear glowing in his eyes. He placed a hand on her shoulder, which caused her to jolt and point the arrow in her hand, at his throat. StarSoar watched her, seeing the pain, confusion, and fear in her eyes. He brushed the flaming red locks from her face, sympathy and compassion in his touch. "Alexandria, it's me." Alex lowered her makeshift weapon, her face a pale color matching StarSoars wings. Blood flowed from the wound on her neck, staining her shirt front. StarSoar recognized the markings and took a few steps back, his eyes wide with grief. Alex saw the look in his eyes, even though her body was slowly giving up on her. "StarSoar, am I dying?? What was that thing that attacked me??" Her heart beat painfuly inside her chest, the air in her lungs burning as she forced herself to stay awake. StarSoar looked away from her, not wanting to see such a lively spirit end the way it was now. "Yes, Alexandria, you are dying. That creature that had attacked you was......" His sentence trailed off as he turned away, his heart ripping apart. Alex used what strength she had left to push herself to her feet. She stumbled to StarSoar, leaning against his back and wrapping her arms around his waist. "StarSoar......help me....." Her voice was barely a whisper as her heart beat its final beats. StarSoar turned and pulled her into a soft, loving embrace. His own tears fell fown his cheeks as his anger towards the creature, who had done this horrible act to such a lively girl, boiled inside him. "My sweet Alexandria, my love for you will never fade...." He kissed the top of her head, causing her to look up. "You will die, my love, to be reborn as....." He paused, taking a deep breath. "a vampire." He felt Alex jerk in his arms, his heart breaking even more. Alex looked him in the eye, and with her final breath she spoke. "Thank you for everything you have done for me, StarSoar....." And with that she was gone, the lifeless body of the girl he loved lay in his arms as StarSoar screamed at the Gods above.
