For one day I’d like to forget, Forget about everything ugly, And everything that hurts. For just one day I’d like to be happy
Today, when I look up at the sky, The clouds, like my problems, are gone They’ll be back later, But for now the light of the sun sills the sky For today worries don’t exist
This morning, when I step outside, The warm hands of the Sun stroke my body. Fingers running over my cold shell, Melting my iced heart Giving me hope, until the night freezes me once more
As the sun sets, I’ll walk My feet will hit the ground with a force guided by strength And just before Sun brings its hands away from my body, Leaving my cold and full of my usual hate I’ll remember that today I walked forward, and didn’t look back
This night I won’t forget Even as the Moon’s piercing glare freezes my hopes and dreams, Until All I have is despair and misery to love me Even as I turn around to walk backwards, away from where light once shone I won’t forget that for one day I was allowed to be normal
For just one day I was happy
