Stories about my life.
A continuation of the last story. Read that one first.

"What was that?" Elizabeth asked her husband.
"What was what?" replied Harold.

The knocking occurred again, but louder this time. The two girls screamed and ran upstairs.

"That," said Elizabeth. "Comfort the children, I'll go get the door.
"Check who it is first." Said Harold.
"I will," replied Elizabeth as she ran downstairs.

She looked out the window. There was a police car in the driveway.
"Oh my God."

Crying, Elizabeth opened the door. All the policeman said was, "I'm so sorry ma'am. I'm sorry for your loss. Your son, Vlad, and his friend, are dead."

Just then, two little gasps were heard from the stairs, as well as the sound of a man sobbing, then two more sounds of crying were heard.

Winter cried for a long time. As long as she did when she was first born. And there was nobody who could comfort her.

A few weeks later, after the funerals, nobody in Lake Watson wore any color but black. Everyone knew Vlad. Vlad knew everyone. Vlad had personally touched the lives of an entire city. Everyone was at the funeral.

Of this everyone, one person was missing. That person was the boy who killed my son and my son's friend. That person was the boy who killed a little part of everyone. That PERSON is the one who decided to get high and drunk, and then drive home by himself.

Most importantly, that MONSTER is the one who took away the first thing in the world that brought me bliss. The first thing in the world that brought my husband bliss. The first thing in the world to bring the family, the neighborhood, the community, and the city true, pure bliss.

He wasn't there. He was invited after everything he did. Everyone he hurt. Every heart he killed.

He wasn't there.

Now, he is almost out of prison, serving time for negligence and two counts second degree murder.

He never even said sorry. Never.

I sit here, writing while listening to Cristofori's Dream, realizing that the reason he did so much, touched so many hearts, and was still fun-loving is because some how, he knew. That's why he giggled when he was first born. He came into the world with joy, only to be taken out by sorrow. But the sorrow was only ours. Vlad enjoyed every second of his life, from the second he was born all the way to the last second he was alive.

And you know what? I miss him. Harold misses him. Winter misses him. Brandi misses him. Everyone misses him.

We miss you, Vlad.
