The confusion regarding... Goths comeback?
Seeing 'Glam Goth' come into fashion has done little more than confuse me.

As an ex-goth, I was teased all through school. Now I see the people who bullied me wearing black lipstick and nail varnish, white lacy blouses and black jeans.
Even worse, they have adopted my boot of choice, the Doc Marten. (I currently own 14 pairs, I love them so damn much).
They all look like extras from Interview with the Vampire, except not half as cool as it looks so forced.

As though it wasn't bad enough seeing people going to gigs in band t-shirts, mostly Led Zeppelin ones.
The main issue I have with this is that I assume we have common ground, I'll ask them their favourite Led Zep song and have the dreaded reply "Erm, ha ha... I don't really know, I'm not a big fan" and when you ask them for their favourite musician or band they'll say something completely different to whatever they're wearing, usually Rihanna in my experience.

That I could just about handle. Vintage t-shirts were cool, that was all.
But then you suddenly had the posers, trying to get in on the "scene" or whatever.
You'd meet a girl in System of a Down t-shirt telling you how great it'll be when she sees them on their "tour next year" even though they're on hiatus and aren't touring at all and how hot their singer Tom is when they don't have one.
You'd have them tell you their parents died in a car accident only to meet their parents later on that evening when they come to pick up their "darling lickle schnuckums".
It's all just a little bit pathetic.

So please people, before you jump on the "bandwagon" (hur hur, very punny) or declare yourself a goth, why not have a little integrity? You didn't want to go goth before you saw it on the catwalk did you? Why not wear what YOU like? Why let the trends dictate to you what to wear?
Scary I know but you could end up starting your own trend, leading the pack not following it.

Why not grab a pair of old jeans, turn em into a skirt? Recycle and make things from what you already have, don't just rehash other fashions!

I think http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ 's definition of rehash is so fantastic I thought I'd paste it on here, I think this is just the perfect way to say what I mean...

Rehash
Verb
To use (old or already used ideas) in a slightly different form without real improvement.
