Music is a brilliant healer
Let me offer an explanation for the choice of title for this entry. I'll begin with my current state of mind...

Caine's state of mind: tanked up on Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort and Coke, with the tiniest sip of mint Baileys thrown into the mix to stir things up a bit. In other words, I'm completely out of mind and all my ordinary biological systems have ceased functioning. Right now, my body is running purely off alcohol. I'm not sure that's even scientifically possible, but right now I couldn't care less. (P.S. Kids, I do NOT advise alcoholism, or over indulgence in alcohol of any form. Know your limits, stick to them, and everything will be peachy. smile )

Next, I'm going to fill you in on how my night has gone so far. Not that anybody cares, in fact even I don't care, but I'm going to write it all down anyway because I am THAT bored and lonely right now. sweatdrop

How Caine's night has gone so far: started off brilliantly, catching up with friends after Xmas and seeing many people I missed over the holidays. Then, it carried on nicely even when we got to the club and found our party of 9 made up at least half of the people inside the club for about 2-3 hours.

After this time however (shortly after my 6th/7th glass of JD + Coke) is when things took a turn for the worse, thanks to none other but yours truly right here. I can never seem to learn the lesson that once I've had too many drinks, nothing good will EVER come of it, and tonight's experience has suffered because of my stupidity.

What started as a great oppotunity to get to know a few new people and show somebody special a different side to myself that she possibly might like, turned into a yet another night out ruined by drinking too much and making an idiot of myself.

To be perfectly honest, when I eventually got home after leaving the club alone I was sorely tempted to smash myself in the head several times over with a random piece of metal we have lying around the house. Probably would have caused a lot of bruises and maybe a few long-lasting injuries, had I been persuaded to continue with this plan.

HOWEVER... it seems fate or karma or Jesus or whoever/whatever has a different plan in store for me. The second I got in and started this sad, pathetic account of my life, I stuck iTunes on for a bit of background noise while I typed. And lo and behold, literally every song that has played on random shuffle out of about 850 songs has been one of my 20 favourite songs out of the entire collection. It's almost like iTunes is trying to cheer me up intentionally.

Even as I'm typing this very sentence, one of my favourite songs of ever has just started playing (Starlight by Muse in case you're wondering). Right now I can't think of the words that best describe how ****** I was feeling about myself a few minutes ago, but right now I think I'm over the worst of it thanks to a little audio up-lifting from my song collection.

This is why I believe music to be a brilliant healer... hearing the right song at the right time can mean a lot to you, and can often contribute greatly to the essence of the moment (God, that sounded pretenious...) and help you come back to your senses.

"So it's on, and on, and on,
It's Heaven and Hell..."

You know, I'm thinking maybe I should do more journal entries while drunk... it could be pretty entertaining for some people to read the nonsensical, un-interupted ramblings of a drunken student. Well, we shall see how things go I suppose.
