Joe Esposito's Obituary
Joe Esposito, 86, of Cambridge, passed away Wednesday (December 12, 2012) after a short illness.

He was born November 2, 1926 in New Milford, one of eight children of the late Gaetano and Rose (Scoveriello) Esposito of Campora Italy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Albert, and Louis; and two sisters, Mary Therese Vaughn and Ann Brown.

After graduating from Rootstown High School, he enlisted in the US Army, the fourth of his brothers to serve his country during World War II. After specialized training at Purdue University, he served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He had obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant before being discharged in 1945.

Joe was employed by Ametek/Lamb Electric of Kent and also Ametek/March Electric of Cambridge. He retired from the Cambridge plant in 1995 after forty-three years as an electronic engineer.

He was an active musician, playing several instruments. His favorite instruments were the pedal steel guitar and the saxophone. He entertained many people by playing at local events and many organizational functions. He played with the following bands and groups during his musical career: Country Hearts, Versa Tones, Toadly Awesome Band, Stony Manor, Wise Guys Band, Bobby Harper’s Ramblers, and Pure Country. He was also an active member of the Zanesville chapter of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association.

Joe was an active member of Christ Our Light Parish – St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge.

He is survived by his wife of over fifty-four years, Shirley (Touville) Esposito and her two sisters whom they raised as their own children, Marina Touville Lockhart and family of Commerce GA and Angela Touville Sigari and family of Marietta GA; a brother, Marion “Tony” Esposito of Ravenna; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a wake service will begin at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday (December 15, 2012) at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating.

Burial will be at Flat Ridge Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
