Zelda-chan, behind the controller
A place for my gaming experiences, mostly. Please be warned that spoilers may follow in listings. It may not be updated often since I'm a full-time college student. I tend to play RPGs, but I've dabbled in the other genres. Hopefully this'll be neat
Hakuoki Memories of the Shinsengumi
Expectations can be a dangerous thing. Yes indeed...

When I read that there would be six new stories, I thought they would be included in the actual game. I envisioned getting to play through the scene where Chizuru is all dressed up while under cover. It was pretty cute in the OVA. However, the reality was not that. The did not lie. We got six new stories. They were in the extras menu. A (short) story for each of the eligible gentlemen. I found Heisuke's to be very endearing. The stories were nice, aside from the glitch I ran into with Okita's where it would crash the game. Yes, crash. Message-bubble-on-home-screen-of-the-system-saying-any-unsaved-data-was-lost crash.Took about six tries to get through that one. Ruins the mood of the story when you're wondering, "Is it going to crash in that spot again?" Poor Okita.

Aside from the new opening, 3D flourishes, six extra stories, and photo booth, this was a port. A port with the same 3 entries missing from the encyclopedia as from the PSP. Oh, I went back and made sure I selected every. single. dialog option. I got all the bad endings. I got all the good endings. And yet, those dear little encyclopedia entries did not reveal themselves to me. I probably should have run through a happy ending after all of that. I feel really down now.

The game was still good. I'm glad I got the limited edition. The fan and cloth are cute. The art book was... small. Thankfully, the images were different from the art book I got with the PSP limited edition. Now that art book rocked. It totally blows this one's out of the water.

So, I don't regret my purchase. I enjoyed it. I played the heck out of the game. Didn't try the photo booth, but maybe I will... later. I hope the other games will make their way stateside. I really want to play the one I recently saw some screenshots for. Modern time school setting? Yes, please! Such potential! Please, bring that over. I will buy a Vita for that. Then I could also play that Ys game, the Persona game Shad really likes, and... I'm sure there's something else. I mean, I got a 3DS for Theatrhythm (which is supposed to have a sequel!!). More good games followed.

Well, a demo came out for the next Ace Attorney game. I have 3 in my backlog. I have a feeling I should play those first. I also have that (long) line of Tales games to tackle. I'm not sure how well this will go. Kinda feeling... overwhelmed? Forever Rachel just came up in my playlist. Is this a sign? Hmm... Maybe a game will lift my spirits, and we'll rise up, like a Phoenix. I really should have played through a good ending after all those bad ones. Maybe some tea will help.

In conclusion, it was nice to (re)play Hakuoki. I still really like Harada's ending, but my loyalties lie with Saito. (How many handsome, blue-eyed lefties are out there in the video game world? (I can think of 2 off the top of my head...)) Too bad we couldn't have had the snow bunny scene. That was so cute in the OVA! I should watch the anime again. Maybe I will.

What will Zels play next? Will it be an Ace Attorney game? Will it be Tales of Eternia? Perhaps she'll venture out to something not on her list, like Skyrim. Maybe she'll replay a game. We'll just have to wait and see. Until next time, farewell and pleasant journeys.

Triple Check!
Well, I finished (pretty much) 3 games since last entry. You'll see why I added that pretty much here in a bit. I'm happy to be finishing games. It feels pretty darn good, to be honest. So, what did I get to check off my list?

Unchained Blades. This was a nice dungeon crawler. I think I really wanted to play one. I have it for the 3DS. The characters were neat. The chapter set up was nice and reminded me a little of Dragon Quest IV. Now, I did get a little upset at the end of the first chapter because I was really attached to my characters. Then, I got used to my characters in Chapter 2, but figured it would play out like DQ IV, and I'd meet some new peeps before everyone joined up in a later chapter.

I will say that my OCD-ness did not enjoy the poison swamp section of the dungeon from Chapter 3. I really wanted to complete my map, but you could only step on 4 poison swamp tiles in a row. I think (never did try) stepping on a fifth one would result in death. Also, some of the item drop percentages were ridiculous. Maybe not quite pink tail drop level, but it was to the point where I'd save before a spawn point and soft reset if I didn't find what I needed.

The skill map was awesome. I really enjoyed looking around that thing. I'd have to pan around to figure out which pathway I wanted/needed to take to get certain things. Gaining a level made me happy since I got to pick my little skill/attribute circles. Maybe I like those a little too much. ^_^; Heck, my brother used to let me distribute his job points on Final Fantasy Tactics because getting to spend them brought me such joy. Skill points~

The characters were a pretty good mix of personalities. I renamed quite a few of them, and I didn't regret the renaming. See, sometimes I name characters after friends, family, or even my own story characters. That did not work out so well with Bahamut Lagoon. Yoyo (that was the default name in the translation I played, folks) did not wind up with the character I thought she would, and that really upset me because of what I had renamed her. Ever since then, I try to be more careful with naming. Even so, I had a pretty good feeling about the two main characters in this game. So, I named them after my beloved Pharah and Linnel. The personalities of the characters were nothing like those two, mind you, but (thankfully) they did seem to be the canon pairing. So... huzzah!

I beat the game and unlocked the infinite ark. I have not yet given this delightful bonus dungeon a try, but I hear it is a definite time sink. I'm sure I'll get around to it. It may be my first pick when that dungeon crawler itch strikes again. Granted, I still have a couple of Etrian Odyssey games and Class of Heroes to finish... as well as The Nightmare Of Druaga. Speaking of Druaga...

Tales of Destiny. Another Tales game off my list! I don't know why I want to beat all the previous Tales games before playing the (totally awesome looking) new ones (Graces F and Xillia), but I do. So... yeah. I did have to take a short break from ToD and play Unchained Blades. See, the controller scheme back in the day was not really as uniform as it is today. As such, I kept cancelling when I meant to confirm. That made starting a new game far harder than it ever should have been.

Anyway, after the x vs o debacle, I got my gaming underway. I admit that I did start using a guide after I read that there were some no warnings given missables. However, being glued to a guide ruined the experience for me, so I said, "Screw it." Game was way more fun after that. Can't miss what I don't know about... right?

My brother commented that I got through ToD much faster than I did ToP. I said that it might be because ToP was on hard mode. Whether or not that's the actual reason, I'm not sure. I will say, though, that the random encounters could get rather tedious in this one.

I liked the Swordians. I remembered that they leveled up with you, so I never unequipped them. I also tried to stick with discs that matched the element of the Swordian. At the end of the game, though, I gave Stahn whatever gave him the best stats. He never cast spells anyway.

My thief being my healer surprised me. I actually expected my priestess to be the one with all the curing duties. Turns out, she had the elemental magic. Did anyone else have issues with Rutee just searching for gald all the time? All. The. Time. She was searching for gald during the final battle. I guess I could have turned that skill off, but I didn't. It was funny (usually) to see her sitting on the ground, looking for gald, as the rest of us wailed on the enemies. When it was imperative she heal or so, I'd just go to the menu and select what I wanted her to do.

I did have a slight issue with the levels of characters who'd leave and come back. I remember laughing when Garr rejoined my party only to find that he was still level 8 while the rest of the party had levels in the 30s. Granted, that wasn't as bad as Chelsea's 3. That was just... At least they gained experience when sitting in reserve. That was nice.

The story was pretty good. I really liked Mary's arc. I was glad she was able to have a happy ending. Leon's fate, though... Sure, the guy was a jerk at the start, but... yeah. Now, there was a point in the game where I turned to my husband and said, "Wow. This feels like FF IV." Such and such was being controlled by such and such who really wasn't this dood but was more or less being controlled by that dood.

I mentioned Druaga earlier. Well, it seems that there is a Tower of Druaga I can climb in ToD. So, I may go and give it a try later on. I also have all those warehouses that I never did the puzzles to and the rest of the arena. Clearly, there's a lot of extra stuff I could have fun with left in the game. I may or may not go for it. It might just be time to tackle Tales of Eternia (which we got as Tales of Destiny II).

Hakuoki Warriors of the Shinsengumi. I really enjoyed Hakuoki Demon of the Fleeting Blossom. I won't deny, there was squealing when I saw an anime existed. There was more squealing when I saw that Hakuoki Memories of the Shinsengumi was coming out. I may have squealed when I saw this game (and the cool handkerchief/bandana that came with it). So, how was this game?

I had read some reviews, so I went into it expecting a Dynasty Warriors-esque game. Indeed, there was much hacking and slashing. Pretty much, you'd see a scene, enter an area, be told to defeat x-many ronin/soldiers/furies/etc., continue onward, fight more, face mini-boss/boss, lather, rinse, repeat. You got to choose between seeing the action side of the story you got to know in Demon of the Fleeting Blossom or a new story with two totally new foes. I did all of the story modes for each of the available characters on normal difficulty (including the fellow you unlock after beating the game as someone). Even so, not all of the pictures in the extras menu have been revealed. I get the feeling I will have to replay the game as everyone on both easy and difficult modes to unlock everything. I might do that. I might not.

It was fun to get to go around as one of my favorite guys, beating up the baddies, collecting materials, and crafting equipment. That being said, there was none of the romance from the first game. Two of the characters you unlock can only be used in skirmish mode, where you just revisit a level you've already completed. I've only played one such level, but it seems to be an exact rehash of said level, but you get to play as the dood you selected instead of the original dood that had completed the level. So, instead of going through the level as Hijikata-san, I got to go through it as Sanan-san, but the pre-stage text, in-stage text, and post-stage text were just as you would see it had I still been Hijikata. Eh.

I think Memories of the Shinsengumi will be better. I am very excited to get to play it. It comes out in a few days. I might just have to hold off on starting ToE until I've finished it. My husband has been playing Harvest Moon on the 3DS, though, so... we'll see. I mean, there are plenty of games left on my to do list. Hopefully, I'll have some good news to report on whatever game I next tackle. Thanks for reading!

Tales of Phantasia? Check!
I did it! I beat Tales of Phantasia... finally. Playing it made me really want to play Tales of Symphonia, though. It is on my list, so I will get to it. I'll probably end up playing it twice, too, since we plan on getting the HD remake coming out next year.

Impressions? Well, there were times when the game got rather tedious. That might also be because I had it on battle level 2 the whole game. I have been terribly spoiled by games that let you save anywhere. I was really desperate for a save point in a few dungeons. No rage quitting, but it got pretty darn close a few times. Flame Tower, you were a pain.

I was disappointed that titles didn't do anything. I was also mad at myself for not realizing I should be buying everything at least once if I want to fill my collection book. I think I was only missing 5 things at the end, and some of them were ? items, so... yeah. However, the new game+ carries over the collection book and monster book, so I can always try again.

I enjoyed the game, for the most part. The supporting character AI wasn't always very good. My husband would sometimes pass by and wonder if I had said something to him when I was actually muttering something to my dear party. Cress would run back at weird times. Mint would just hang out instead of heal. Sometimes she'd run up and hit a monster with her staff. Arche would float around, watching the party take on the enemy. Claus would use Undine on enemies that were healed by water and other variants of that same issue. Fun times.

It was still a fun game. I had fun collecting treasure, cooking meals, flying around on the tech birds, and even grinding. There wasn't too much grinding. Having a good skills setup really made a difference. The arena made that pretty clear.

Gah, talk of an arena makes me want to play Star Ocean 2. Please say I'm not the only one who kept thinking, "Air Slash!" each time Cress would use Demon Fang.

Well, there are still a number of games on my Summer Hit List (of Justice!). We'll see how many I'll actually get crossed off my list (as well as how many will get added. Hello, Steam Summer Sale!). I have a feeling we may end up with a list for each season. sweatdrop Also, my husband recently got the new Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection. As such, he has been using the TV. So, I will probably have to do my console gaming when he is at work. We can do this! I'll let you know how it goes. Take care!

Start of the Summer Hit List (of Justice!)
My backlog is... well... big. It may even be ridiculously so. I have realized that I need to really get to work on it since some of the devices said games are on are, well, borderline obsolete. So, to encourage my tackling this issue, I have made a list. To make it even more fun, I gave the list a cute name. It will be my Summer Hit List (of Justice!).

What is on this list? Well, it starts with the Tales series. I don't think I've ever finished a Tales game. I want to say I got really far in Phantasia, once upon a time. I was also playing Star Ocean then. Sad to say, the two are a little muddled together in my memory. I have since finished Star Ocean thanks to the PSP release. The GBA release of Phantasia is not as nice as the SNES one I played once upon a time, but it's what I've got. I found my file, figured out where I was in the game (not too far), and have continued on only to learn that I seem to have it on either hard or mania difficulty. Earning that Berserker title helped me to see that I really hadn't lost my mind, the enemies were more difficult than I remembered. It's okay, though. I'm up for the challenge. I'll just be doing some grinding.

So, I plan on tackling the Tales series. Phantasia, Destiny, Destiny 2 (which is really Eternia here), Symphonia (both of them), Abyss, Vesperia, Legendia, Graces f, and Xillia. It would be pretty neat if I happened to get this all done prior to Xillia's release. I won't hold my breath, to be honest. Especially now that I've learned Symphonia is getting HD re-release treatment. I might just play that one twice. I also have to see if my brother still has his copy of Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology. It might be nice to play. I'll see what he has to say about it.

Next up will be Atelier Ayesha. I love the Atelier series. This one has been sitting in a stack, waiting to be played, because I wanted to finish some games first. (Fire Emblem Awakening was awesome, by the way.) I'm tempted to put Mana Khemia 2 on the list after Ayesha since they are kinda sorta in the same vein. I remember starting that one up and quitting since I hadn't gotten all of the endings from the first one. >.>; I know. I have since rectified that. I also wondered if any save file data would carry over/have perks. A gamefaqs search probably would have answered that question...

If I stick to the list I have written up, the Grandia series will come next. I have a Grandia save... somewhere. Whether or not I remember what's going on in said file is a whole 'nother story. Wild Arms follows with Hoshigami and Nightmare of Druaga: Fushigi no Dungeon finishing the list. For now. There are still loads more games waiting to be played. Baby steps.

I finished Wild Arms on the PSX, but have since started playing Alter Code F. I was really sad that Zed's theme wasn't the same. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty far in that playthrough. It was neat to learn that my Alter Code F save data would get me some stuff when I (finally) play Wild Arms... 4? Something to look forward to.

So, I have my list. Hopefully, I will be able to stick to it and enjoy some games I've been holding off on playing. I also hope that the PS2 lives through this, as most of the games will be played on it. Maybe I'll even do some journal entries as I cross things off my list. Could be fun. We'll see. I'll try to do those entries when I'm not tired. I really feel like I'm letting you down with the writing today.

Well, laundry calls. Then gaming. Take care!

One down... a lot more to go
Hello! I can officially say that I have beaten Final Fantasy II now. Huzzah! Boo to missables, though. Oh well. I'll know for next time. I think I will give it a go on the GBA. I don't remember if I started a file on the GBA version, but it might be a good idea to start fresh. We'll see.

I'm glad I got to strike something off my list of unfinished games. I should finish playing Golden Sun the Lost Age next. Changed my Nintendo calendar over to see Golden Sun smiling back at me. So, I think that's a pretty good sign I should play the game. I think my track record of finishing games is better with the Final Fantasy side than with the Dragon Quest side. Seems I need to see if I can find a set of Final Fantasy VII discs that work. I think we had bought three sets of the game once upon a time. We wore those poor discs out, I guess. I wonder if my file is still on a memory card somewhere. I was on disc 2 or 3, I want to say. If all else fails and I really want to play FFVII, there is always the PSN. Oh, wait... Well, I hope that gets all fixed up soon.

Dissidia & birthday perks
Hello! Today is my birthday. ^_^ You know what that means? Yep. I went and talked to all of the guests I currently have staying at the Quester's Rest. Most, if not all, gave me some sort of a present. Basically, it was a piece of equipment that would let me dress up one of my DQIX characters as them and a party popper or cake. It was during this trip that I decided it would be much nicer if everyone was on the same floor and I just had to go door to door. At least, I think it would be more efficient. Who knows? It was a nice little addition to the game, though. I don't know if there are many games out there that do something nice for your on your birthday. Wait... is my drop rate supposed to be better today too? Hm... Might have to check that out.

I've been playing a copy of Dissidia that I borrowed from my younger brother. I like the game. It can get really crazy during some of the battles, though. I'm still learning some of the controls. Yes, button mashing has occurred. I haven't tried the other mode they have. I remember reading in one of the little tips that they had a different mode for people who weren't into the running around, dodging, hitting, etc. mode. I kinda like the running around. I haven't beaten it yet, but I think I might be getting close. Having the completion % for each character's story mode is getting to the perfectionist in me. I will totally be wanting to get 100% for everyone. When I first started playing, I went with Cecil's story (especially since my husband had just gotten me IV Complete... which I do need to play... sweatdrop ). I have played IV before (and beaten it!). Even so, I did a little, "Wow! They totally started out with that? No spoiler alert? Wonder if anyone wasn't in the know? Eh, it's been a while. I mean, this game was out on the SNES. It's neat that they're using that relationship." Of course, this did make me go, "Wait... I haven't beaten II yet. Is playing Firion's story going to spoil anything for me? Eh, I'm close to the end of that game anyway. It might just be the push I need to pop it in and beat it."

I love that you can earn PP and use it to buy neat things in the PP catalog. I had forgotten how things were before you paid for DLC. I mean, I wonder if I'd have to shell out $0.99 now to get the ability to unlock a set of cute icons or other playable characters instead of 190-1000 PP. I am currently trying to get all the icons. They make me happy for some reason. I doubt many people are still playing this and that I would really be able to pass out my friend card or so (or that I would even if people were still playing this one...), but I think it's great that I can have a cute white mage or any of the chars from the first ten FFs as my friend card icon. Oh! And the moogle letters. That's so much fun too. And I <3 the chocobos. Hearing the fat chocobo's kweh made me smile. I'm enjoying this game, even though I have wanted to punt a couple of ridiculously difficult manikins after I've had to retry a battle 5 or so times. I wonder if that means I'll really enjoy 012.

Found another pronunciation I did a head tilt over. Zidane = Zih- dahn. I've always said Zih-dayn. Just seemed interesting to me. Was surprised by Cloud's voice. I never saw Advent Children in English, so I don't know if any of the voices sound the same as they do in that. He just seemed a little more... country? than I was expecting. It's not a bad voice, but you know how it is when you have a certain picture of someone in your head only to have it not exactly match up in the end. I am looking forward to when I can finally unlock Shantotto. Taru tarus rock. Heh. Maybe I should ask my brothers to get me 012 as a birthday present. We'll see. I have a feeling there's still a lot left for me to do. I mean, I have so many accomplishments still to... accomplish. (ha ha)

Before I started playing Dissidia, I had been playing an SRPG on the DS. Laevatein Hero Tactics was the title, if memory serves. I like the game. Hadn't played a strategy game in a while. It's a nice mesh of some games I had played in the past. A part of me wants to say Luminous Arc, but it's been a while since I've played it and... well... my memory isn't always too good. heh. Now, on the surface it seemed like it might be very FF Tactics-y. Then I ran up to my first enemy. It went to another screen with me on one side and my foe on the other with two rows of soldiers before each of us. That made me think Dragon Force. I got to select my formation/attack style and who I would focus on. The soldiers didn't run at each other like in DF, though. We slashed the air and did damage that way. The mixture of different languages is a nice touch. It might bother some people, though. I remember some of the dialect written speech bubbles in DQIV driving me batty. I had to read aloud sometimes to be able to get through them (which was kinda fun). I'm interested in seeing if we get to see Val's face. I'm also wondering if the main character will wind up stealing Diana away from his big brother. It might not happen like that. He could wind up with Val. Still, I'm one of those people that starts to ponder what turns the story may take.

Well, I think that's all I have to share for now. Hopefully, I will have beaten a game by the next entry. heh. Maybe that will be what the next entry will commemorate, my having beaten a game. Golden Sun The Lost Age has been on the back burner, but it could make a come back. Toys R Us is passing out Pokemon eggs as an event, so I might get further in Pokemon White than I currently am. There's no telling what game I'll feel compelled to play next. I mean, I was so excited to start Pokemon White, but that excitement fizzled after a while. Not sure exactly why. Anyone else excited to hear about the Tales of the Abyss 3DS game? I haven't read the full article yet nor do I own a 3DS. I just remember really liking the characters when I watched various members of my family play it. Goodness me, I still have quite a few in the Tales series I need to complete. <sigh> One day, Zels. One day.

http://r.undev.org/?r=223586

Really, Dissidia 012?
Hello. It's been a while. Yes, I'm still checking my DQVC every day. And farming gold golems. Dragon Quest IX, you got me good. I still haven't started VI. It is in my queue. I'm trying to finish a game before starting a new one, so... Yeah.
Finished the first Golden Sun a while back. I don't know that I like button mashing because you have to button mash to get the battle goings-on to go on. I like all the djinns or djinnies. It's neat that you can do different combos to get different psynergy and classes. Now, the game was a little shorter than I anticipated. That's because I thought I'd hit all 4 lighthouses in it. I was playing, thinking to myself, "Wow. I've put quite a few hours into this game and am only at the second lighthouse. I should be halfway done. This is a long game. Cool!" Yes, then I learned that it was only two lighthouses and then move on to the next cart. Speaking of, that gold password was long. My mathematical training prepared me to make t and + distinguishable, but I was surprised that the password was something like 260 characters long. I got it accepted first try, though. Huzzah! Playing the second half now. Just got the boat. Think I missed the poor treasure chest on the boat. Missing treasure unsettles me for some reason.
Watched a review for Dissidia 012 on gametrailers yesterday. I got my brother Dissidia as a birthday present, planning to get me a copy so we could do battle. Didn't turn out that way, though. Even so, 012 intrigued me. I kinda want to get it, but am at that point where I might just wait until I find a good looking used copy. However, it was while watching this review that I had one of those ::cocks head to one side:: sort of moments. Yuna was talking to an unconscious or so Tidus. Now, if memory serves, she pronounced his name Tie-dus back in X. In this clip from 012, though, it was pronounced Tee-dus. Yes, I had a name shock moment ages ago when Final Fantasy IV DS had the voice acting and Rosa said Cecil's name Sess-ill. I like See-sill more. Guess we'll see if there's any voice acting in FFIV Complete and if Rosa decides she likes See-sill more this time around.
Another game I have been playing is Witch's Wish. I was expecting a different game. Even so, I wouldn't let it beat me. The rune drawing was something that took me a while to understand. Not for the obvious reason, though. See, I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to certain things. I would take my time to try to draw the rune perfectly, only to have my little witch get all scorched by her magic board since something went wrong. I grew quite frustrated. I mean, kids were supposed to be the target demographic for this game, right? Eventually, I got so fed up, I just started scribbling something down as quickly as I could. Bingo! That's what the game seemed to want. Trace the rune as quickly as you could and as best as you could. Although, the recognition software sometimes went a little crazy. I mean, if I drew #, I don't see how you would return with &. I'm stuck on the final boss, though. My husband gave it a try since he saw how frustrated I was getting. He didn't last as long. He called my cute little game an unfair rock, paper, scissors game. He also offered to smash it with a hammer for me. heh. So, keep that in mind if you happen to see this cute game and wonder if you should get it.
I finally started Pokemon White. So many cute Pokemon so far. I went with the water-type starter and am on my way to the second gym. I got all of the badges in Diamond. I forgot that you have to face the elite four to beat the game, though. Don't ask what I thought happened. Truth be told, this might be the first game where I've actually gotten all 8 badges. I really don't remember, though. I want to say I had gotten as far (or was at least 20 levels higher than I am now) in Pokemon Yellow. Something happened to my cart, though. I either forgot to take it out of the pocket of my overalls and it got washed (Yellow or Gold was the victim of this sad tragedy), or it fell behind a bookshelf. My luck, it and Final Fantasy IV Advance are having their own little party in lost game world.
Well, I should go play something so I can make some progress on my list. Talk to you later, whomsoever may read this. Happy gaming!

~Zels

Attacking that list
Hello! Would you believe I'm still playing Dragon Quest IX? That DQVC is addicting. I've completed a few more quests, which was a nice break from the gold golem grinding I had been doing to fund my DQVC purchases. It's fun, but I hope that I get a grotto with some of those gem slimes I've been hearing about.

I suppose, in a way, my New Year's resolution was to finish up some games. I made a list a while back of all the games I could remember having started and not finishing. I decided to go with games I actually was playing and then, for whatever reason, got distracted from. I did not put down games that I played a little and then went, "Well... this isn't my cup of tea. Glad ______ likes it." The list is very... well... I have a lot queued up.

I popped in Summon Night: Swordcraft Story since I had put it down on my list. Lo and behold, upon going to an FAQ to try to figure out where I had left off in the game since I was just sitting in a dungeon, I had already beaten the game. ^_^; Seems you can do some post game labyrinth exploration stuff. haha... Popped in the sequel since running around in the first one reminded me that I really liked the game. It's a lot of fun. Missed out on doing a couple of quests. I didn't realize at first that I could find the item the kid who always loses stuff had lost. I think I'm about to enter the final dungeon, so I'm going to stick with it. Hoping I can knock a few unfinished games off my list before Valentine's Day.

The last chapter of the third Aveyond game was released near Christmas. I used some Christmas money to purchase it and completed it yesterday. It was a good game, but I did get a little irked. The irk-age came from learning that I was supposed to unequip the prince's sword prior to embarking on a trial with my healer. I saw the sword upgrade stations as she climbed the mountain, but figured we'd come back. ha. ha. ha. Wrong. The final battle caught me by surprise, too. I thought there might be a wee bit more game. As such, I was not 100% prepared. Even so, I put up a good fight... until they started casting death on my party. Reloaded, buffed up, got some supplies, and kicked butt. Glad I stuck around for the special bit after the credits. Lovely ending to a great series. Hoping to see more. Maybe something featuring Nox and Uma.

Played the Lufia II remake (and beat it!). It was definitely a different experience from the SNES one. The storyline was pretty much the same, but the battle system and everything was different. Also, I wasn't too sure about Dekar having pink hair. I guess he pulled it off, but... eh. I missed the capsule monsters (that is what they were called, right?), but they didn't really fit in with the new system. I will have to play through it again. I'm going to have fun in the Cave of Ancients. I wonder if that crazy slime is still at the bottom. I'm also interested to see how some of the conversations change/if any of the storyline alters due to the circumstances of the new game+.

Pokemon Black and White will be out soon-ish. I had forgotten about Game Stop having a special event with shiny Pokemon. When I did get reminded by something I read, I had already missed the first one. Got the second one, though. Plan to get the third one, which looks the cutest to me. My brother says that the psychic/grass legendary Pokemon (Serebii... Celeby?) will be released in an event after the shiny legendary trio. It looks cute, so I might get it too. In fact, I might actually reserve Pokemon White when I head down to get my next shiny Pokemon. My brother already pre-ordered Black. It might be fun. I mean, if I'm going to get these event Pokemon that unlock the ability to get a legendary Pokemon in Black and White, why not?

Valentine's Day is going to, hopefully, rock. Dragon Quest VI is coming out! I told my husband that was what I wanted for Valentine's Day. He was cool with it. I reserved Tactics Ogre for his present. I also spent most of my Christmas money on a couple of other games due out in February. Ys I&II for the PSP and Radiant Historia ate up what did not go into savings. I got Ys III when it came out. We also got Ys VII. Have I played either of those yet? No. Granted, I totally intend to play Ys III to see if it is at all like the one I remember playing on the SNES. To be honest, I do plan on playing all of them. It just might take me a sec.
