Since so many people have been asking me "why I have such a huge problem with self-piercing"..well, let me run it down...
1. Chances are, if your asking "how do I pierce (Insert body part here)" You shouldn't be doing it.
If you don't know how to do it, Dont. Piercing requires much more skill than "stick the needle here". It's a art, and it requires technique. Piercing is the art of "tricking" your body, because your body is in a sense "programmed" to reject anything foreign to it.
and if you don't understand that, you just need to stop right now.
2. It's doubtful that you have proper knowledge of Anatomy, Blood borne pathogens, and Cross contamination control.
As previously stated, Piercing requires technique to allow your body to heal the wound. without a good knowledge of anatomy, Not happening.
As for blood borne pathogens, maybe you'll end up with an infection, or maybe something more... "exotic" like HEPATITS or HIV.
As for cross contamination, Im sure most of the people who self pierce only have 1 set of gloves. One set of gloves is a fail. Any good piercer who practices proper cross contamination control will change their gloves AT LEAST 3 TIMES for a single piercing.
3. Most of the people who self pierce are under 18, and cannot get proper supplies.
If your under the age of 18 (In the USA atleast) Ordering needles isn't going to happen, and most shops refuse to sell needles to anybody, let alone minors.
A safety pin, or a sewing needle, or a thumb tack are NOT proper tools to use.
4. If you "sterilized" your "needle" with any of the following, You don't have a ******** clue...
-Rubbing Alcohol
-Hydrogen peroxide
-Boiling it
-Using a candle
An autoclave is the ONLY way to sterilize something. Without an autoclave, that has peen properly tested to confirm it's sterile, all your doing is "Sanitizing" at the very best, and most of the above methods won't even sanitize very well.
5. Most people DON'T realize.. But your taking your BODY, and your HEALTH in risk here.
Seriously.. if you have THAT LITTLE concern for your body and health... it's your own damn fault.
6. "My parents won't let me get it, so im gonna do it myself"
Maybe your parents just don;t want you to get it, But, 18+ laws were created for a reason. Chances are, you can't take care of the piercing, and that's why your parents won't let you get it. maybe they just don't like piercings, and in that case, WAIT IT OUT TILL YOUR 18.. I mean, CHRIST, it's not THAT BIG OF A DEAL.
Piercing yourself behind your parent's backs when they told you no, shows them nothing but how Immature you are.
Now, Im not saying everybody is as retarded as most.
I have plenty of friends who have self pierced, and they were all 100% successful.
BECAUSE, they have proper knowledge of what they were doing, and knew the risks associated with self-piercing.
You can b***h at me all you want, but if you have to ask "how to do it" you obviously shouldn't
