I agree! I didn't like Jennifer Lawrence when she was cast, but she did a great job. And I didn't mind Hutcherson's Peeta. Gale was pretty good for as little as he was in it. I liked how they threw in the meetings of Seneca Crane and Pres. Snow and showed how the games were being rigged. It just shows you how dictatorish he was being lol.

I wish I could too! I just saw it last night and it was awesome! It was better than I thought it was going to be. It's hard for movies whose books I've read and enjoyed to be as good to me as The Hunger Games was. A lot of the images were very moving and quite reminiscent of the 40's fascism/communism/totalitarianism, especially in the part we've seen in the trailers with the reaping and all the kids being lined up, dressed up in retro dress. It was like I was watching a movie about the beginnings of the German Haulocast for a second. And then you have Effie and her crazy futuristic look to her. Definitely a statement there. I cannot wait to see how they play up the author's message of promoting peace and exposing the horrors of war, even a necessary war for freedom.
