The stereo in my room fell in love with the audio. So did the audio of mine love the stereo. Alas, the cruel hand of fate had placed them at opposite sides of the room, in order to improve the sound quality. The stereo was the first to try. It willed with all its might that it's tiny steel frame should quiver a mere inch closer to it's beloved. It tried so hard. It failed to move, and for weeks afetr that it would play nothing but sad love songs. The audio, seeing the stereo thus depressed, attempted to move and comfort it. Alas, all it could do was screw up the volume control. Why couldn't it just walk? Life was so unfair. And so the stereo and the audio spent many long, longing, lonely years staring at each other from across the room and yearning for the smooth caress of stainless steel case against stainless steel case, occasionally bursting into miserable declarations of musical love. The cassette player on the stereo ceased to function, and the audio's sound quality became ever-reminiscent of an old, decrepit, ne'er-made-it-big singer's once-sultry voice- quavering and wavering, with the odd hacking bout of static keeping the tempo. The stereo pined. The audio whined. And even in their old age did they whisper declarations of love to each other, across the darkness of the room at night. Like ghosts did their whispers hover in the dank air, mechanical souls intertwined somewhere far beyond the boundaries that mere walking could take you beyond. Unfulfilled, unforgotten, untouchable love.
And then the warranty on the sound system expired, and I threw them both into the dump. I hope they were recycled.
Hey! If you invite Mrs. Wong, she can come and you can come too!
