Held close to me, recounts my various experiences both as a L'cie, Guardian and God of Death.

About

Caius Ballad is the main protagonist in Final Fantasy 13-2 and a Boss/Chapter Boss of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13.

After killing his mentor, Caius become a Pusle L'cie tasked with the Mission of protecting the Farseer Yeul. Sadly, she was attacked one night while Caius was fighting a fellow Paddra-Warrior named Ballad. Cause of this, Ballad rushed to protect Yeul and died. Feeling guilt, Caius unleashed a blast that killed himself and the attackers.

Etro saw this as devotion and revived Caius, freeing him from his L'cie bond and giving him her heart, the Heart of Chaos, allowing him to become Immortal and protect all the Yeuls across the timeline.

He battled with Lightning, Noel, (Snow, mentioned) and Serah (Mog included). But ultimately died at the hands of Noel. His goal was to kill Etro and free Yeul from her curse (or so he called it a curse.) and despite his death, his goal was achieved, for Etro died when he died.

He was later seen in Final Fantasy 13-3 also known as Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy where he served as a Chapter Boss for 1 of the 4 FF13-3 Chapters.
