My Scene
Well I am currently eighteen years old and a junior in high school. I live in the U.S. and that's as much personal information I'm going to give about my age and location. =P Never know with the wierd-o's out there these days...My life is centered mostly around school as most my courses are either honors or AP (advanced placement; a college credit class). I'm really big on the arts. I love to paint and draw, you can find a lot of my works on deviantart. My account there is hungryxhungryxhippos (the commercial happened to be playing at the time I was making it xD). I also enjoy playing music. I've been in the marching band since I was freshman. When it's not marching band season I play the french horn (the one with all the tubing that could probably stretch out for a good mile or two).
When I'm not busy with my school, friends, or family, I'm often on my computer, roleplaying or writing. I'm also an avid reader. I go to our local bookstore about 4 times a month to get my weekly coffee fix and romance novel. Yes, I did say /romance/ novel. I'm a sucker for that junk, the knight riding off with a woman in his arms into the sunset... yeah, I'd be that girl. And let's face it, all romance novels guarantee a sappy, fluff-and-stuff, happy endings. No tragedies people. I get enough of that through the "quality literature" in english class.
I'm a lot of things. And here's a list, just to name a few:
- Feminist; I believe that there are many different ideas of "feminism". But in case you were wondering, here's what I think feminism is. I don't think that women should have to depend on men in any way shape or form. I believe that a woman can support herself without a man. She can make her own salary, and pay for her own living space and personal items. And why not let the woman cover the evening night out for once, huh? I mean, if a guy pays for it, and then the date the girls pays for it, no big deal. But if the guy insists paying every single time, that just makes me feel insubordinate. And contrary to what most men think, we can open a door all by ourselves. You just reach out and pull the handle, seriously boys, wipe that smug look of your face for thinking of yourself as chivalrous. Holding open one door won't don you a knight in shining armor (not that I think men need to become a woman's knight in shining armor). A woman isn't just some damsel in distress, we're independent and just as strong in mind and spirit as any man.
-Marching band geek; I'm a proud first mellophone in our school's marching band. wink
-Workaholic; When I say work, I mean with studying and homework. I slave over schoolwork all day long, and then I come home and have to continued working.
-Artist; I take my art seriously. To me, art isn't just slapping paint down on a canvas and going, "Oh look! Art!" No, I take it /much/ more seriously than that. I believe art is the truest form of your creativity. And Id on't necessarily just mean the "traditional art". I mean any art, music, acting, dancing, drawing, painting, writing... all of it I consider art. You can find a lot of my art at deviantart under hungryxhungryxhippos.
-Dreamer; Yes, I am a bit of a dreamer. I make up these fantasies in my head, and relish in them. But I'm not an inactive dreamer! I believe that to want something, you must be willing to act.
-Friend; I have a wide circle of friends, young and old, and I cherish each and every one of my friendships.
-Sister; I do have a younger sibling. We squabble a lot, but it's just all a part of that "sisterly love", you know?
-Undefined; I've always asked myself, "who am I?" And I can't answer that because I'm so many different things, and I'm always changing.
