Some might say that Mirage was created with a silver sparkplug in his mouth. On Cybertron, he was one of the planet's elite upper class, preferring to spend his days hunting turbo-foxes instead of involving himself in conflict. When that became unavoidable, Mirage enlisted with the Autobot forces, although he is often unsure about his motivations for doing so, which leaves his fellow Autobots finding it hard to trust him - a problem not helped by the fact that Mirage can rarely hide that he is often unwilling to fight directly, or his contempt for the "commoners" he is now forced to interact with. He has no lost love for Earth, and would happily return to his old life on Cybertron if he could.
It is ironic that, given his unwillingness to fight, Mirage is a superior hand-to-hand combatant, and a skilled sharpshooter, having honed his talents hunting game on Cybertron. He is armed with a rifle which fires explosive, armor-piercing darts, but the most important piece of his arsenal in his function as a spy is his shoulder-mounted electro-disruptor, which can bend photons to make Mirage invisible, or appear to be where he is not, or even alter his physical appearance, hence his name.

"Optimusaskedmetocomeseehowyourweredoingandmakesurethateverythingwasalright," Blurr rambled, resting an arm on Mirage's shoulder as he leaned against the other bot, studying his opposite servo a bit. "He'sworriedaboutyouandwantedmetoletyouknowthat,ifyouwereinterested,youaremorethanwelcometoreturntotheautobots."
"Chill out, traitor, it's not a trick," the shorter bot snapped, glaring at Mirage. "Radio Ratchet if you want a second opinion but it's really me. The doc managed to find my spark still hanging on and put me in this piece of scrap frame."
The only reason he hated it? Because he still looked like Bumblebee in a way. And Ratchet had taken his trans-scanner away so he was stuck with the same alt mode as the mini bot.
"Put the gun down already."
“ Starscream...” For only a moment she pondered on the word to shortly scrunch her face plating “Sorry I hope this doesn’t offend you but to me he is not what I call leadership material. I’d rather work side by side with him but not under his obligations.” The second name washed away the expression, showing her enthusiasm. It was barely visible but a warm curvature of his lip components appeared to show her gratitude.
“ I would very much like that. Your generous offer Mirage won’t be in vain, I promise you.”
She heard of the bot but never had she spoke to him or researched his history. She only knew of the bond between the two. Learning new information was quite exhilarating.“Where could I find this spark mate of yours? I would like to discuss what position I should be designated as.” A low chuckle escaped making her lip components quiver from the vibrations.
“Without a purpose how can I protect my team mates? Wouldn’t want to be some sort of nuisance.”
Of all the bots around him, there was one that had constantly been the center of his hate, attitude, constant berating, name calling, all that good stuff. And said bot, in Cliff's mind, deserved it now more than ever. But only because Cliff had a demented mind and liked to mess with his favorite/not-so-favorite bot on every possible occasion.
"YOU." Before Mirage could turn something slammed into the blue and white bot, the smaller red mech hitting the other with enough force to at least send him stumbling, optics narrowed to thin slits. "I knew I'd find you eventually you primus forsaken traitor!"
