Most people in gaia like them because of the social status they hold in a way.
But I personally don't find much to do with them, if it was me if it's selling for a lot and I'd hardly use it, I'd sell it.
You'd be making more use and having more fun with newer items and making new avies, so it would be worth it.

I could help to know of newer items that you may like, you could try selling off some of the older items you don't use to gain gold since things have upped in price a lot.
A lot of the newer items are really well made and well lead to this.
Many arm mods and leg mods help to make them look quite cuter too. =D
