My name? Long forgotten – buried behind the numerous counterfeit sketches of my true persona.
As I sit on the shelf of the insignificant Chinese antiques shop, I find myself recalling - recalling my earliest memories.

‘One’ was always a word I was fascinated with. One was the universe, the galaxy. One was the each trifling individual no matter what shape of size on the planet. More importantly though, one was myself. I, who never had any say in what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go. I who had my own personalities and viewpoints created for me. I, who may be treated like a precious diamond or a piece of trash. I, who is adored one moment and hated the next; who exits with whomever has more paper or shiny metal. I am also ‘one’. I can be equal to all of the other beings in this galaxy. I am no longer the one that’s negligible or left out when it comes to ‘one’. I have a role.

The broken sunlight streamed through my eyes as the unscarred door of my prison cracks open. I saw a young lady walking in with a bright smile on her face and a single branch of a plant. Purple pink flowers sprouted from the sides of the branch like the Christmas lights decorating the roofs of the numerous houses. It wasn’t a distinct plant and it didn’t seem like it was very popular and eye-catching. However as I stared at it, I tried to recall its name.
“It’s a Calluna, Calluna Vulgaris.” The pretty young lady flashed a bright smile and told my guard.
“Very interesting choice there.” The lean man spoke in a heavy accent of the store’s origin. “Would you like to look at one of our antiques?”
“I’ve come to meet up with someone here.” The girl laughed melodiously like the wind chimes sounding on a light warm breeze.
My guard stood and laughed a little at the lady. “Well, be my guest.”

The lady searched the store and her striking gold eyes met mine for a brief second. A second was all I needed to recognize the spark of life in those eyes. She strode over calmly to me.
“I finally found you...” She whispered softly, picking me up like I was made of the most beautiful glass.
She giggled softy, “I brought the promised flowers...”

Calluna Vulgaris - the invasive yet lonely plant on the fields. The plants lost all of its appeal to the people because of its bold nature. Though in a way, it may be just as gorgeous and tempting as a red rose, it is treated without respect. Numerous sent to death by flying and crawling assassins.

“Do you remember me?” The young lady spoke again, “we promised to meet here thirteen years ago.” “I was with you from day one and we shared many happy times for a year.”
I stared lifelessly at the girl. Memories weren’t coming back. Too many faces flashed through my mind. There was too much darkness clouding my heart and soul. However, as I continued to stare emptily at the girl and her warm smile, an indescribable feeling overcame me. Light, hope, love, warmth. As the emotions started overtaking me again, I thought back to ‘one’ and looked back at the promised Calluna flowers.
They really are beautiful – like a blooming rose hidden in plain sight.
One. Calluna Vulgaris.

I remember. The life floods back through me as I reach for the outstretched hand of the lady.
Bring me home.

“We’ll be together forever now...” She smiled faintly as she whispered my name.
“Remember your name forever...”
