The Me-ness of Me

Hey everybody,

Depending on the day, my mood, and the amount of gold I can scrape up, I'm Kalia the Goddess of Fire, Urusuri the wood spirit, Light-chan, or any other character my mind comes up with. Most of the time I'm Light-chan, a college student with either way too much work or nothing to do. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground there...

Anyway, I like reading, swimming, and surfing the Net and do all three of those as much as I can get away with. Lucky for me, I live near a good pool. I'd live IN the pool if I could read and surf the Net underwater. Right now, I'm rereading all the Xanth books I have and plotting to buy more. If you've never read any of Piers Anthony's Xanth series, go to the nearest library, get one of the books, and start reading. I'll wait.

I'm a diehard Mac user. Windows is evil. I use it only when I have to, which end up being a lot because of work and projects...sigh.

I'm also a manga/anime fan, after being hooked back when Cartoon Network started Toonami. Right now, I have all of Chobits, Imadoki, the Fruits Basket volumes that are out in the US (I can't read Japanese), and some of Vampire Game. Girl stuff, yeah, but I'm a sucker for it. Oddly enough, I watch mostly shounen anime: Trigun, Naruto, Gundam Wing, Full Metal Alchemist, etc. I love reading manga online but I'm not such a fan of anime online. Don't ask me why.

Anyone on Gaia who has celiac disease, food allergies, or any other wacko sensitivites that makes them break out all over creation or swell up, feel free to PM me and gripe. I feel your pain. I want a croissant really REALLY badly, but it does evil things to my digestive system. Rargh. This is why I'm studying to be a food engineer. (This means I design processes that, for example, take wheat, milk, and some other stuff and make what ends up being macaroni and cheese in a box.) My main goal in life right now is to make mass-produced food that's allergen free and still tastes decent. I hope another 3 years of grad school will accomplish something.

Yeah, I'm a grad student, which makes me an older Gaian. It also makes me poor. One more reason to be on Gaia: I can be rich somewhere. Too bad I can't spend my gold in the real world...
