He's really famous for abducting Persephone,which had a cosequence of creating winter, and turning the girl from a young spring godess to a cold death godess. He had a few redeeming qualities like a really cool three-heade guard dog named Cerberus and a neato helmet o' invisability that everyone is always borrowing.
