The Mask

You work so hard to try and fit in
but it all seems so pointless in the end
you dont know what to do
or even what to say
you cant make them happy
even for a single day

You try to run and you try to hide
but through the thickness of their harshness
they seem to hunt you
taking you down
with every hurtful word
and every hurtful action

You feel your better than them
nicer, smarter, kinder to say the least
It means so much to you
but like all other things they shoot it down
you hold onto your self though
not letting it go

Thoughts of giving up
of turning and running
flicker through your mind
you try to laugh it off
knowing you'd be no better than them
if you ran and hid

So days go on
you sit and stay strong
trying to ignore them
laughing them off
so be strong and never give in
come on little girl, put on your mask again.
its time for a new day.....
