Well here we are once again with yet another update on my gram and her health dealing with cancer. I figured since I have already made quite a few entries about her and her health I'd continue to do so for those that have paid attention and actually care about it and how it's affecting me.
The latest update I have is Tuesday the 5th (2 days ago) she finally went to the hospital to have her 1st chemo treatment. Now to explain how they go about it it may take a few so bare with me >.<
You see, after her initial surgery when they removed her breasts they left an incision along her side towards her back with a tube going into her viens, arteries I don't know the specifics on that and on the outside is this small container that wasused for filling with blood and such. Well now that she's finally stopped bleeding they use this container as the means to administer the chemo.
1st the inject into the container a solution to help with any nausea she may experience throughout the process. After that's gotten into her system then they insert a tube into said container and the chemo slowly drips in, getting into her system.
Now that I've explained that enough I'll tell you how she felt afterwards and how she's still doing. She went in that morning feeling quite crappy as overnight she had an issue with her sugar (she's a diabetic) and didn't get much sleep. She had the treatment (which took at least 2hrs if not longer since it was a very slow drip) and came out feeling great! She had no nausea or bad side effects and felt better than she had in awhile. She even came home and ate right away if that tells you anything. The doctor did warn her though of all the possible side effects from throwing up to hair loss. She was told to expect hair loss within the 1st few weeks, as that's what most patients experience. And she was given pills for at home in case she were to suddenly feel sick.
She has to back to the hospitol tomorrow for some bloodwork to check on her then the following monday she has a test to see if there is anymore cancer anywhere else in her body, then I believe it's the friday after that that she'll have more bloodwork to check on her and then her next actual chemo treatment isn't until like the last week of this month. I guess the chemo she's getting is so strong she can only have the treatments once every 2-3wks.
So for right now she's doing quite well considering everything she's went through already and she feels pretty good. She's also started a walking routine to help her health and her weight problem (she's kind of a big lady). She'swalking everyday and we can already tell the difference. She's looking better, her breathing is much better and she's managed to lose a nice amount of pounds so far.
With any luck she'll be able to continue her walking, get her chemo, not have any bad side effects and still be around for quite some time >.< That's what I'm hoping and wishing for anyways 3nodding
Thanks to everyone for their kind words and thoughts. It's really meant alot to me and I don't know if I can ever thank you guys enough. You're all wonderful >.< *hugs* heart
So that's it for now. I'll post more about this and anything else that happens when it happens >.<
Until next time america.....
