~Summer~ (story in the works- pg 1)
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
It’s an odd thing when you know everything about someone- and yet nothing at all. I can say without a doubt that when I asked those peoples hearts what they feared- I got a truthful answer. I asked other questions- got other truthful answers and yet I know nothing of these people. Another odd situation is when you know nothing about a person, and end up very close to them within a day or so- and still can’t seem to keep a conversation with them.
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

I stared out over the sunlight valley, tired and wearied. It was summer, and like usual I was on my own. I stayed with my parents during the school year- and they were always busy, but less so then. In the summer- they were tens times as busy. Mom had to work all week and she had school. Dad- worked all week as well. If I stayed in one place- I didn’t see them. And if I stayed in one place- I was always there, in that one place. Always- and alone. So I had decided that I was going to go see things this summer- even if I had to walk. In the end, I did have to do so because Dad wouldn’t let me get my permit due to grades. They were pretty bad, and thus I was hard to insure. So- after a long time of walking, I had ended up here. Wherever here was.

I wound my way down the hill side, picking through the leafy bushes. It was steep, and in places I slipped. Tiny dust cloud billowed out from my feet whenever this happened. Eventually, I just gave up and slid down on my butt. It wasn’t like it mattered- my clothes were weather stained enough as it was. I bit my lip as a sharp pain set in. I looked down, at a bunch of cactus. Ow…that…really hurts. With a little grunt, I pulled myself from the cactus. Carefully, I hobbled down the rest of the hill. A rutted road wound about the hill, stretching off into the distance. I followed it.

“What are you doing, following someone else’s road?” asked a voice from behind me.

I stared over my shoulder at the speaker. A tall man grinned at me, green eyes twinkling behind a pair of glasses. “I’m seeing where it takes me,” I said grinning back.

“Ahh, but that someone else’s road can lead to that someone else’s doom,” he countered, falling in step with me. This caused him to walk much slower.

“But I’ve entered it from a different way, so it has become my road,” I replied. “R-right?”

“Most likely for different reasons too.”

I looked at him, eyes wide. Morning dew dropped from leaves and birds called to each other.

“You aren’t out here for a morning stroll,” he stated.

I shook my head; conversation skills failing.

He looked straight ahead. “Thought not.”

I stared at the rock strewn road, kicking the pebbles with the tip of my shoe. Thoughts rushed into my head. Maybe we can be friends? And maybe you can get a sex change. What? Why would I want to do that? Anyways, maybe I should tell him about me. What are you, crazy? Well, yeah, I’m arguing with myself aren’t I?

“What are you doing following someone else’s road?”

I looked up sharply, and stopped in my tracks. “Y-you….y-you own this road?” I asked. I’ve been trespassing this entire time, haven’t I?
