All about Asperger's
My personal describing of Asperger's Syndrome:
1. A lack of social skills coming naturally. People (example: me) can learn social skills if taught them, but will not pick them up naturally.
2. A different way of thinking
3.Quite often bothered by things such as bright lights, high pitched noises, etc.
4. Can turn an intrest into an obsession...

Well said, my friend. People need to know what autism is before they can learn to accept it. Heh, fifty years ago, discrimination was based on physical characteristics, now it's based mostly on anything but that.

I'm glad I'm not the only aspie here who doesn't want any kind of cure or anything like that. smile

The saddest are these: it might have been.

There's actually an anti-cure guild on here, but it's inactive I think.

Autistics need acceptance, not a cure.

Hey i have asperger's too, i thought i was the only gaian with asperger's, so it is cool to find other gaian with AS. (p.s. i do not want a cure 4 autism either, I've learned to accept that I have this disease, and deal with it)

I actually work for a supported living company and I helped out a gal with Aspergers Syndrome. She was very talented in various artistic areas and it was definately an obsession. I loved hanging out with her! I think that the only reason that she didn't live on her own was not necessarily due to Aspergers but instead was due to her environment growing up. So I just wanted to give an opinion from the "other side". I would never think that there was anything to cure. That is an obsurd thought.

My best friend's older brother has autism, and from what I can tell he's a smart cool guy. He's into video games and all that jazz and the only difference I've ever noticed, besides his amazing memorization skillz, (Once while at my friends we were Tommy Boy, and during the movie he was saying huge blocks of Tommy Boy after only seeing once I believe.) he acts a little awkward and doesn't have the best socialization skills.

And I don't know if he is a great representation of the disease, but Jerry Espenson from Boston Legal, is pretty much my favorite character from any TV show ever.
