Personality: Amy is fascinated by all things Pokemon, and the only reason she loves school so much is because it's all about Pokemon. She's passionate about battling as well as interested in the scientific aspects of battling, and it is this enthusiasm that earns her good grades. They would be perfect if she didn't hate paperwork so much--she loves the outdoors, especially water, and will do anything to get outside. Her dream is to be both a Pokemon trainer and a researcher, like the grandson of that famous researcher from Kanto. His name always slips her mind.
Family and history: Her enthusiasm most likely comes from her father, a detective in the Johto law enforcement. Part of the interest in Pokemon-related science and her life-long love of Pokemon she has stems from her mother, who does all kinds of research about medicine for Pokemon. She is fairly well known in the Hoenn region, where Amy's parents met and where she was born and raised. At the age of 10 she received a Mudkip from Professor Birch and began her journey as a trainer, catching her three Pokemon and getting a few badges, until her parents decided to move the family to Johto. Upon hearing about Orleans Academy she literally begged her parents to let her go, and they agreed, on the condition that she keep in touch.
Other: Her Marshtomp, Keiko, can understand basic human speech, but usually doesn't listen anyways. This gives her a tendency to get herself, and Amy, into trouble. Unfortunately for her trainer, Keiko also loves pulling pranks on unsuspecting humans and Pokemon. Amy's Whismur, Michiru, is a frequent victim, which doesn't do any good for her already low self-confidence. Luckily, Minako, her Plusle, is the voice of reason and settles most conflicts while acting as a mother figure to all three of her comrades.
