I held the Executioner's Blade with trepidation, I did not want to kill the man. Convicted for stealing food, he was sentenced to die by my hands. I had never killed someone for such a simple crime, the average was a murderer or a traitor. "Do it in one blow." The guard said to me, I nodded as I raised the blade. "Do you have any last words?" I asked. "Please forgive me! I stole the food for my children! We're starving to death and you know what killing me will do?! Leave them with no one!!" the guard gave the signal. With tears welling up in my tightly clenched eyes, I brought the blade down. It was over with a thud. I fell to my knees and began sobbing. "What have I done? That man did not deserve to die..."
"Your highness, I'm sorry you had to do this. I'll have a talk with the ki-" I cut him off. "It's quite alright, Alden. I'll talk to father myself." I stood up, brushed myself off, and headed to the castle, after all, I am prince Valsa, the son of the king of Infernium. As I approached father's room, I heard yelling. My father and some woman. I scowled and walked to his door and stood outside it, listening.
"You stupid, fool! Don't you realize what you've done?!" The woman's voice contained anger. "That man wasn't even violating the Theives' Code!"
((Just a little something I felt like writing. It's probably going to be the beginning of the newest FC novel.))
