One day when the weather was cooled
My Sprite took me to her meadow
I thought this would be a harmless journey
What was really in store, I would soon know
We laughed and we giggled
Then we heard a sudden cry
Together we looked up
At a fiery dot in the sky
The motion was quick as lightning
When the Phoenix swooped down
Entranced with my Sprite
T’was her he flew around
Her eyes sparkled with love
For her fire feathered friend
And it was so obvious in his sapphire eyes
This was the message he too wished to send.
The two flew off
In an opalescent blaze of light
Which left me alone
With a creature of the night
He had followed the Phoenix
Unnoticed by all but me
As with my old Rag Doll
I wasn’t frightened, just entranced by beauty
His skin was so pale it seemed almost to glow
In contrast with his pitch black cape
His eyes were a clear crystal blue
So gorgeous they had me caught with no means of escape.
His hair was a seemed flame of red
Fitted perfectly to his face.
A devilish smile crossed his lips as he spoke
“Come with me to a more calming place.”
His snow white hand extended out to me
And he once again flashed a devilish grin
I felt drawn to take his hand…
But isn’t trusting a demon a sin?
I think I held my breath a little
As my fingers touched his upturned palm
He grabbed my hand tightly and pulled me close
Then all I remember is a feeling of calm
When I opened my eyes I was on a large ship
Watching the water shimmer and shine
The pale creature wrapped and arm around me,
Sending a chill down my spine
He held me close as I watched the moon
And its reflection dancing in the ocean
He brought his head down to my ear
In one swift and gentle motion.
“Are you happy? Is this what you desire?”
His voice was so smooth and entrancing
“It’s so beautiful…but I really don’t know,”
I responded, still watching the moonlight dancing
I felt his grip loosen,
“So you’d rather I let you go.”
My hands pulled his arms back into place,
“That’s not what I said, please no.”
Suddenly I saw a lunar ray of opalescent light
Our companions returning from the sky
I felt our time was growing short
And I had to ask him why…
“Why did you take me here? Who are you?”
My heart was fluttering nervously. My voice full of dread
He whispered his words to me, “I am the Demon Prince.”
After these words I saw the Phoenix above his head.
The sapphire eyed bird landed on his shoulder.
My Sprite landed on mine as well.
And as far as my Demon Prince is concerned
There isn’t much more to tell.
I saw him again, though not often
I thought about him everyday
And in this story of my Demon Prince
There is nothing more to say.
