Anyways... here's the story she wrote for me.

Water fell from the sky angrily, pelting the gravestones and uncut grass around the Hyuuga. In front of him, lay a small block of stone with the name of his father carved in. A small area in Konoha, sovereign from town, reserved for the Hyuuga clan's dead. The grassy area was filled with gray stones of various shapes, whether they be simple rectangles, crosses, or elaborate designs with prayer beads strung about them. This one was especially simple-- a block of stone not an inch above ground, obviously a rushed gravestone. The scripting was messy, and there wasn't any creativity whatsoever put into it. As much as Neji was disgusted by it, he still visited about once a week, sometimes more, after what Hiashi told him. The fact that he had died willingly to protect the clan, and yet had been given such a horrible memory, made him even more sick. But what was the male supposed to do? Tell them to make a new one? That would never do.
The byakugan user continued to stare dully at the spot, not even seeing what he had come to look at. He was far too deep in thought for that-- What would have happened if he had lived? thought Neji. What would have happened if... if none of it happened? If Hiashi didn't kill the Lightning shinobi, if Hinata's kidnapping was never attempted, if--
His racing thoughts were interrupted by a small head butting up against his shin. Neji looked down curiously, even if he knew who it was. A small puppy, long ears hanging at the sides of it's face, looked back up, looking somewhat... sad, if that was possible for a dog. The cream colored tail wagged hopefully, and it butt it's soft head up against Neji's leg. The Hyuuga had to smile weakly-- the puppy was so perceptive at times, it felt almost like Akamaru knew exactly what was going through his mind. Chances were, he probably could. Animals had a gift with seeing actions, no matter how small, and translating them into the truth. And that's exactly what Akamaru did. He wandered around, looking at people, and cheering them up. As of recent, Neji was become a favorite of Akamaru. Was it that his emotions were so... jumbled? Even to Neji, they didn't make sense. To the canine, however, it was probably plain as day.
A pale hand, worn and bandaged from trainning, reached down to touch the head gently, rubbing it. The puppy whined happily, pushing the top of his head against the other's palm. The fingertips scratched behind the brown ears, earning a loud moan from Akamaru. Neji had to laugh at this-- the puppy was just as dramatic as his master.
Neji frowned. The fur was more than damp, as his skin was, it was soaked. Had the dog left his warm, safe and dry home to come see Neji mourn? The Inuzuka compound was around five miles from this place. The male suddenly felt guilty and hoped Akamaru had simply been in the area. If not... well, either way, Neji was going to take him home. He and Kiba, as something of a tag-team, had probably been trainning extensively. The puppy was probably tired, the small musceles stretched and exhausted. Hands reached down to the ground, lifting Akamaru up around his torso and pulling him to his chest. Curling his right arm around the body, the puppy soon made himself comfortable in the arms of Neji, sighing contentedly. Neji smiled and began walking in the direction of the Inuzuka compound, feeling the furry chest rise and fall against his own.
"Let's take you home, boy."
