So a few weeks after visiting the magickal land of Hong Kong, I have to go back to finish up some details unexpectedly.
...back to the land of hot, sticky, humid weather. And I'm a dry-winter girl. I'm a fish out of my ******** water there! gonk
But at least I have this to go back to. domokun
I can't get over how absolutely WONDERFUL this card is! Especially having visited Tokyo right before landing in HK. In Tokyo, there's the JR and then there's the subway, or so I understood. (I'm still not very sure. xp ) That means at least two ticket systems and an oldskool ticketing system. I HATE how they have those little ticket stubs that you have to re-insert into the turnstile when you exit. I'm always paranoid that I'm going to lose it. (I'm shifty handed like that. )
THEN! I came to Hong Kong and immersed myself in the Octopus Love. Even though you run money out of that thing like MAD (or at least I did- in a touristy way X3), it's so wonderful to just flash that thing past the beeper and HOORAY! You're done! biggrin You can even keep it in the outside pocket of your bag and the machine can still detect the card so you don't have to rummage it out of your wallet and pull the darn card out. domokun
And you can use (and recharge biggrin ) it in so many ubiquitious places like convience stores, McDonalds, and Starbucks! Bloody marvelous, I say! biggrin
Just as many places to use the octopus card as well! They've got ferries, LRTs, subways, trams, and buses all at your disposal!! AAAAAAAAAAH~ whee
....but still, even if the card is a world-class system, the people you have to take it with SUCK. Chinese people are so brash. They need to learn how to be more civil and courteous. scream
