Lizard's Great Adventure

Lizard was a small creature. His skin was cool, smooth, and scaly. His eyes were black and beady, and his overall personality was naive and childish. He always wondered what it would be like to leave the small forest he lived in and travel to other places such as a desert with boiling temperatures during the day and cold ones at night. Or to the cold, wintry arctic where one couldn't live without the warmth of fur and a cavern. He often dreamed of places like these as he took his daily walk to the same old stream, listening to the songs of the same old blue jays, and meeting with his same old friends Bear, Wolf, and Moose.
Bear was big, strong, and very brave. He was the best hunter in the entire forest, and could spot the slightest movement with his emerald eyes. Wolf was just a little smaller than Bear, but she was still large. Her fur was as white as snow, and her eyes held a gentle golden presence. She was the kindest one in the whole forest and was known for taking care of the young, so everyone called her 'Mother Wolf'. And Moose was the largest in the forest, her fur was a deep brown color and here old eyes were a pale blue because she was slowly going blind. She was the smartest and wisest one in the whole forest and all who entered to the forest came for advice from her. She was known as the Forest Elder.
"Good morning Lizard, great day today isn’t it?" Bear said to him as he approached the stream.
"Yes, a very good day indeed," Moose replied.
Lizard flopped onto the ground and said with a sigh," Good morning."
Wolf moved her gaze over to Lizard, her head slightly tilted asking," Is there something wrong Lizard? You seem unhappy today."
Lizard rolled onto his back, looking at the sky and said," Today is just like every other day, they're all the same. I wish that something new would happen, or that I could go somewhere new."
"But the forest is so clam and so peaceful, and it really isn't that great outside of it either," Wolf said with a confused look across her face.
Lizard had forgotten that wolf was not originally from the forest that she had traveled from far away and finally settled down in the forest. He looked up to her and said," But everything is so boring here and it's all the same things everyday."
Moose looked at Lizard and said in a clam voice," If you feel that you need to go and see the rest of the world, then that is what you should do. Don't feel that we are holding you back."
Lizard nodded and began to walk away as he started his adventure while Bear shouted," Be careful Lizard and you'll always have a home here!"
Lizard kept walking as he heard these last words and finally came to the edge of the forest trees and the start of a vast desert. He gulped as he looked across the many mounds of sand dunes and coughed as he inhaled dust that was being carried in the wind thinking," I don't know if I can do this now, but I'm not going to go back and be laughed at be my friends. I have to do this." He took his first step into the desert and let out a cry of pain as he burnt his foot not realizing that the sand could get so hot. He wrapped some of the tree leaves around his feet and began to walk into the desert again.
He kept his eyes squinted so he didn't get sand in them and breathed through his nose so he didn't inhale the dusty air. He saw something ahead of him thinking that it was one of the deserts Oasis' that Wolf had told them about, but it wasn't. Instead it was one of the sand traps, or quicksand. Lizard was running so fast that he ended up falling right into the sand trap! He remembered what Wolf had said about these, that by moving a lot you'd sink in faster. Lizard didn't know what to do anymore and thought that he was going to be live in the sand trap for the rest of his life when all of a sudden he heard some voice's saying," Hang on Lizard we're going to help you!" He looked around and saw that it was Bear, Wolf, and Moose! His friends had come to rescue him.
"We'll get you out of there Lizard!" Bear said as he tried to stretch his paw as far as he could to reach for Lizard.
"We'll all help by making a chain, Wolf holds on to Bear's foot and I'll hold on to Wolf's tail. Bear you leap as far as you can to Lizard and Wolf and I will pull you both out," Moose said in a stern, yet calm voice.
Bear made a great leap and landed right next to Lizard and picked him up in his great paws and said to Lizard," Don't worry you'll be ok now that we've got you."
Moose and Wolf made one great tug and both Bear and Lizard were out of the sand trap.
“How did you know to come and get me?” Lizard asked his friends.
“Well, it had been a while since you were last in trouble. So we figured you we due to be in some sort of danger soon,” Bear replied with a smirk.
Then they all headed back to the forest and slept for the rest of the night. The next day Lizard was taking his daily walk to the forest stream listening to the songs of the blue jays, and meeting with his friends Bear, Wolf, and Moose.
"Good morning Lizard, good day today isn’t it?" Bear said to him as he approached the stream again.
Lizard looked at Bear and said with the biggest grin," Good morning, and a very good day indeed."
