Concrete Angel
Set in marbled stone she waits,
a messenger sent from heavens gates;
beauty envisioned in her pallid face,
full of knowing angelic grace.
Her expression is deep, and hard to read,
peaceful, yet sad, like she longs to be freed;
people come to admire her, gazing up to the skies,
they see just a statue, no life behind her eyes.
But a soul does lie there,
trapped behind her set-in-stone stare
she belongs in Heaven, where the angel’s choir sings,
but she’s trapped on earth, unable to fly with heavy concrete wings.

Sometimes when I
say "nothing's wrong"
I want someone
to look me in the
eyes & say
"tell the truth"
You laugh because I'm different,
I laugh becaus you're all the same.
