Okay I am not a mod or a mod assistant even though that would be nice but I'm making a guide of what to do when you considered a "n00b".
Okay lets start with clothes. The first thing you want to do is to update your clothes right away if you can. The way I know how is to sell all the starter stuff then buy clothes but in turn you are sacrificing the gold to use for a trade pass but if you want to do it go for it.
Now if you have done that the way I would say to make gold is to go around towns. When your in towns go up to bushes and trees and shake them you will get gold sometimes.
Also another way to get gold is to vote in arenas or post in forums.
Okay now if you chose to keep the gold for a trading pass thats probably the better idea to do. Now that you have a trading pass you can trade with other gaians and sell in marketplace.
One thing I would suggest is to do the quests no matter how dumb because you can always sell the item and get gold.
Another thing never never never beg for gold in towns or on peoples profiles, for one you will lose respect and two you will get reported for harrasement.
One thing you can do is to kindly go up to someone and talk with them and say something like, "hey i'm kinda new would you mind giving maybe like 100gg so I can get clothes" That there is perfectly acceptable and if they say no then don't ask again just leave them be.
Also a great investment sometimes are monthly collectables that you can buy from gaia directly for $2.50 or when you get like 12,000gg buy the sealed envelopes from someone. The investement here is if the item goes up when people open them you can sell yours an make maybe 2,000gg profit or more.
