High School Boosical
While browsing AOL's music boards, a topic about High School Musical caught my eye. An teenage girl, possibly trying to make herself look "alternative" by proving she doesn't like the movie, reinforced the Disney Channel tween stereotype with this message:
Quote: you can tell a lot about a person based on their opinion of high school musical: if they liked it... i hate them, for one uh, was that really necessary to say?
oh, god forbid should there be preps...after all, we all have to be superpunx like you.
Quote: they think they have a life, but don't obviously they have more of a life than you do...
no, they're not spoiled if they like it. it's one thing if they liked the movie, but if they're looking to become Paris Hilton, then yeah, they're probably spoiled.
Quote: they get everything they want in life and if they don't they complain WAY too much about it see above.
Quote: they think they're so wonderful and if they don't they complain WAY too much about it Not true. that wouldn't make any sense. they think highly of themselves because they like a certain movie? riiiiight. and I'm Sharpay Evans.
Quote: they have the worst taste in music "Worst taste" is totally dependent on someone else's opinion. you don't like it, so you think it's bad. someone else who likes Disney-type music would disagree. I know a girl who liked it, and she likes The Shins, Mew, Keane, etc.
Quote: they have the worst taste in really anything again, that's a matter of opinion...
Quote: they straigten their hair I think the general word would be "style," not straighten. because guess who else straighten their hair? those "scene boys" you love so much.
you wouldn't complain if they were a scene dude
Quote: they think they have talent (think being the key word) more than half the people who audition for American Idol every year think they have talent. I think you're getting your statistics mixed up...
Again, note my indie-rock friend who likes the movie...she's not quite popular, but she has a lot of friends. doesn't really constitute as "popular."
Quote: they're always in flip flops or flats of some sort No, they probably just live in Florida, or think they live in Florida, or think they live in California. It's a fad to think you live in California when you don't. yeah, I hate it too.
Quote: you're life is full of false dreams aren't we all?
Quote: reality is going to hit you hard one day and i'm going to laugh like I'm laughing at you right now?
Quote: you're a wannabe you follow the crowd you're shallow
that's called stereotyping/bias.
Quote: if you hated it... join the club!!! you know what music is good uh-huh...so let's see. if an HSM fan has the same taste as you, their taste is bad. but if I do, which I didn't like the movie either, then my taste is good? ok, whatev.
Quote: you don't follow the crowd silly silly! we all follow the crowd in some way. no one is original. you might disagree, but once you pick apart influences the pieces all fall into place...
so basically HSM fans are at a higher risk for death than non-HSM fans? riiight. ok.
Quote: you don't dress like a whore neither does Vanessa Hudgens. she doesn't dress!
Quote: you know what life is really like many HSM fans are aware of what life is really like. it's a damn MOVIE.
I sometimes tend to be pretty spoiled. again, I hated the movie.
Quote: you'll end up with the better life in the end I smell bias!
not really. I'm probably the most well-known Gwen Stefani wannabe in the Merritt Island area. probably. ooh, are you gonna hold that against me, too?
Quote: you don't have to be perfect no one does, hello. no one ever will be.
would you say that if a member of My Chemical Romance liked HSM? not saying that they do or anything...
Quote: you actually are beautiful (if you're a girl) uh, look at my profile pics. that's beautiful? right. whatever.
I love how people rebel against the mainstream to make themselves look nonconformist. Which only makes them more of a conformist. "High School Musical ruins lives." "MTV kills music. "I don't crank dat." You're not making a statement. You're just trying to look hardcore when you're not. Besides, you probably listen to the All American Rejects.
You dig? Discuss.
